Marvel Rivals is a third-person hero-shooter game and, as such, obviously has a ranked mode. Competitive matches generally tend to be a more “serious” format of the game. More often than not, you need to use dynamic strategies and focus more on these matches.

The competitive mode and ranking system in Marvel Rivals is fairly robust, and there are a lot of divisions currently. In this article, we will explain all the competitive ranks in Marvel Rivals and explore all the details surrounding them.

Marvel Rivals has eight major competitive rank groups:

  • Bronze (Tier III to Tier I)
  • Silver (Tier III to Tier I)
  • Gold (Tier III to Tier I)
  • Platinum (Tier III to Tier I)
  • Diamond (Tier III to Tier I)
  • Grandmaster (Tier III to Tier I)
  • Eternity
  • One Above All

Each rank division from Bronze to Grandmaster has three tiers, ranging from 3 to 1. Tier 3 is the lowest in that rank group, and Tier 1 is the highest. For Eternity and One Above All ranks, there are no tiers, but you get points instead. Generally, the top 500 players remain in the One Above All competitive rank group in Marvel Rivals.

How Does the Competitive Ranking System Work

The competitive ranking system is based on points, or elo as gamers would know it. Winning matches grants you points, and you will lose points if you fail to win a match. Here are the details on the ranking criteria:

For Bronze to Grandmaster

Each rank has three tiers, ranging from 3 (lowest) and going up to 1 (highest). You will need 100 points to rank up one tier. Once you hit 100 points in Tier 1 of any rank, your rank group will change, and you will be placed into Tier 3 of the next-highest rank.

For example, you will need 100 points per tier to climb from Bronze 3 to Bronze 1. Once you reach 100 points in Bronze 1, you will rank up and be placed in Silver Tier 3. This process repeats and continues until you rank up from Grandmaster 1 to Eternity division.

Generally, winning a match gives you anywhere between 30 and 40 points. At the same time, losing matches takes away around 10–25 points.* Moreover, when you are about to derank from a particular rank or tier, a special feature called the Chrono Shield is activated. You will only be able to derank once all the shields are depleted. As such, the competitive ranking system in Marvel Rivals is lenient and saves you from an imminent derank.

*Note: These are values that we have noticed on Bronze and Silver ranks, and might change for higher divisions. We will update this section once more information is available.

For Eternity and One Above All

Once you hit the Eternity division, the ranking-up criteria change in Marvel Rivals. There are no internal tiers for these competitive rank groups. You will still win points for each match, and these are the only indicators that you will get. The top 500 players with the highest points are placed in the One Above All skill group. Basically, this is similar to the top 500 (or T500) skill group in Overwatch ranked modes.

However, the Eternity and One Above All competitive ranks in Marvel Rivals also force you to remain active. If you get into these skill groups and remain inactive, you will constantly lose points, thereby potentially deranking as well.

The cosmetic rewards for the competitive ranks in Marvel Rivals will change each season. However, players ranked in any tier of Grandmaster or Eternity ranks will receive a special Silver Crest of Honor, titled Grandmaster.

Similarly, players ranked in the One Above All division (top 500) will receive the Golden Crest of Honor, titled One Above All, in Marvel Rivals.
