In this guide, we shall go over the Marvel Rivals penalty system, its durations, and the bans imposed and explain them in detail.
PVP video games are all about competitive spirit and fair play, and Marvel Rivals takes these ideals to heart. The game aims to foster a healthy and competitive environment for its players and implements a penalty system for players who don’t play by the rules. The penalty system is in place to punish players who are deserters and hurt the competitive spirit of the game. In this guide, we shall go over the Marvel Rivals penalty system and explain it in detail.
What Is the Penalty System in Marvel Rivals
The Marvel Rivals penalty system, as its name suggests, penalizes players who harm the competitive spirit of the game. But which players are these? These players are ‘deserters’ who leave the game in the midst of battle for any reason whatsoever.
The first time you leave the game, you are flashed with a simple warning. “Are you sure you want to leave the game?” the game will ask you. “Leaving the match now will flag you as a deserter, and you might face penalties.” Your first time abandoning a game will bear no penalties whatsoever. However, continued behavior of this sort will bring forth harsher penalties.
After a string of violations, you will be given a 5-minute penalty. “You left the last match early, resulting in a penalty: Cannot join Quick Match and Conquest Matchmaking for 5minutes (currently ___ remaining). Further violations will result in more severe penalties.” the message will read. You will be temporarily banned from playing Quick Match and the Conquest mode for 5 minutes.
A message titled “PENALTY” will also be delivered to your in-game inbox. “Violation detected in your gameplay. You’ve been penalized with a temporary ban from Quick Match and Conquest mode for 5 minutes. For further details, contact our customer support.”
What To Do if Penalized in Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals will issue temporary bans if you go AFK or leave matches. Going AFK will kick you out of a match, leaving you with the same tag of ‘deserter.’ We do not know the extent of how far the extent of the ban could go, as our testing has only given us multiple 5-minute bans.
During these bans, you cannot queue for Quick Match or the Conquest mode you last abandoned. These modes will be marked by an ‘Under Penalty’ tag. You can, however, play custom games or the ‘Practice vs AI’ mode. So, play these modes and wait out the penalty timer before queueing again.
