Here are some of the most overpowered heroes in Marvel Rivals that need to be nerfed in order to be more balanced overall in the game.
Marvel Rivals has an interesting and diverse roster with heroes and villains from across the multiverse. While all characters are fun to play, some particular units are overpowered right now and need to be nerfed. Since the game was released very recently, hero balancing is going to be unstable for quite a while. These do not change much in the casual plays, but competitive plays see these few characters rotated every now and then.
In this article, we will list 5 heroes in Marvel Rivals who are overpowered right now and should be nerfed. Although the game currently has more Duelist units than the other roles, this list has one surprise Vanguard entry as well.
Note: This list is subjective and solely reflects the opinions of the writer. The entries in this list are not arranged in any particular order.
Overpowered Heroes in Marvel Rivals Who Need To Be Nerfed
The following heroes in Marvel Rivals are overpowered right now and need nerfs to be balanced:
- Venom
- Iron Fist
- Moon Knight
- Squirrel Girl
- The Punisher
Here is a detailed explanation of why these heroes are overpowered and need nerfs:
1) Venom
The main reason why Venom is on this list is his survivability. This character can be incredibly difficult to kill if your team is not focusing on him together. Venom’s kit lets him dive, deal splash damage, and then deal poke damage with his tendrils. And when he gets low, he can use his Symbiotic Resilience to gain bonus health that increases as he does damage.
And when his health is low even after all of this, his swing is back online, and he can slingshot out of the fight. This adds incredible value to his presence in a fight, even if he is not actively doing a lot of damage. As such, Venom is overpowered in Marvel Rivals not because of his damage but because of the sheer combination of his mobility and survivability. Some nerfs to the latter would make him much more balanced, especially in maps with clustered chokepoints.

2) Iron Fist
One of the most overpowered and broken heroes in Marvel Rivals currently is Iron Fist, and he needs to be nerfed as soon as possible. Iron Fist is a melee character, and most players adopt a flank gameplay with this hero. However, the problem lies in his damage. Iron Fist can easily melt a 650 HP Vanguard with his entire combo. Once he dives at you with his full set of combos, there is no escaping even if a Strategist pockets you. And if he has his ultimate on, this extends to multiple characters.
Moreover, Iron Fist can run on walls horizontally to target flying characters as well. And if you keep chaining his melee combos, he can maintain nearly 100% air time without needing to drop to the ground. Just keep hitting left clicks and the abilities to damage them, and you will be good. To top this, Iron Fist also has self-healing abilities that can sustain him if needed. Iron Fist needs nerfs immediately to be balanced in Marvel Rivals and fit in the meta.
3) Moon Knight
Moon Knight is among the most consistent damage dealers in the game currently. However, this hero is also overpowered, owing to the fact that he does not always need to aim at the enemy to deal damage. He can smartly place his Ankhs at an off angle and reflect his Crescent Darts. These also deflect off enemies and hit multiple targets if they are clustered in the same area! He also has massive mobility with his grapple gun, which can allow him to reach vertical ground. A very high double jump and the ability to glide also aid in his mobility, making him a deadly presence in every match.
Finally, his ultimate is also among the most damaging abilities in the game and can kill even Vanguard characters. Moon Knight’s damage, mobility, and most importantly, his versatility make him overpowered, and he deserves some nerfs.

4) Squirrel Girl
This might seem like an oddball entry to this list. However, Squirrel Girl is a very overpowered hero in the hands of the right player. If we look at gameplay, Squirrel Girl plays mostly the same as Junkrat from Overwatch. However, there is one stark difference: Squirrel Girl can hit snipers with her catapult. Moreover, there is no damage falloff over distance, which makes her an effective anti-snipe unit if you get the angle right.
You don’t even need to be fully accurate here. The ammo from Squirrel Girl explodes on impact, creating a very small AoE splash. As such, this Marvel Rivals hero is currently overpowered and needs to be nerfed for a more skill-based pick.
5) The Punisher
The Punisher is perhaps the easiest agent you can pick up as a beginner in Marvel Rivals. However, he is also one of the most damaging heroes if you get the hang of him. With an assault rifle for long-range and hitscan targets and a shotgun to get close and personal, The Punisher can do it all. Moreover, he has a turret that deals a massive amount of damage to anyone he shoots at. This turret also stays active for a dangerously lengthy period of time unless the enemy shoots to destroy it. Essentially, this is almost like a second life for The Punisher here.
Finally, he has a smoke grenade that he can use to temporarily save himself, along with an ultimate that makes him a walking turret. With all of this versatile damage potential, The Punisher is one of the most overpowered heroes in Marvel Rivals, and some nerfs to his damage potential might make him a more balanced pick overall.
