Try these 5 combinations in your team in Marvel Rivals to get the most out of teamwork. Tackle each situation effectively without fail.
Finding a team composition that fits your playstyle in Marvel Rivals is crucial to winning a game. However, not every situation can be tackled the same way. If you and your friends are up against randoms, you can easily mow them down using your usual team composition and tactics.
On the other hand, when pitched against a team that knows what it’s doing, you will find it difficult to hold objectives. So, let’s discuss the top five team compositions that could help you get through different situations on the battlefield.
NOTE: The article reflects the writer’s subjective views and experiences, and the list below is not ranked.
1. Marvel Rivals Team for Convergence/Convoy Push
During Convergence and Convoy match modes, your best bet against the opponents is being as aggressive as possible. Here is the team you need to assemble for it:
- Venom (Vanguard)
- Hulk (Vanguard)
- Jeff the Land Shark (Strategist)
- Rocket Raccoon (Strategist)
- Moon Knight (Duelist)
- Black Widow (Duelist)
The Vanguards in this composition serve the purpose of holding aggro and tanking damage.
The Strategists are both well capable of defending themselves, holding the objective, killing enemies, and healing allies effectively. Moreover, Rocket can deploy a relay at a safe spot to ensure that his team doesn’t respawn all the way at the back of the map.
The Duelists here will keep enemies at bay and support the tanks. Moon Knight can cast his runes on the said convoy to avoid enemies from getting too close. Since Black Widow’s sniper doesn’t have an ADS delay, she can play at medium range. This way, everybody is pushing the objective!

2. Marvel Rivals Team for Domination Matches
When playing Domination, your team needs to be a little defensive, and also be able to flank enemies to take the objective. Following may be the most useful in this situation:
- Doctor Strange (Vanguard)
- Peni Parker (Vanguard)
- Loki (Strategist)
- Cloak and Dagger (Strategist)
- Iron Man (Duelist)
- The Punisher (Duelist)
Vanguards like Doctor Strange can offer offense and defense while effectively holding a spot. He has the most powerful shield to protect his allies while holding a point. He can also open a portal to flank enemies unexpectedly. As for Peni Parker, she can use her Bionic Spider-Nest and Arachno-Mine to successfully camp at the location.
Loki, as a Strategist, can also offer good offense. He can summon two of his clones in the objective area to make the match 8v6 instead of 6v6. His Regeneration Domain can also be a good camping spot for the rest of the team. Cloak and Dagger work similarly by creating AoE healing spots and dealing damage when needed.
Iron Man can guard the spot from a distance and also close in when needed. His Ultimate Ability can clear the entire area if shot correctly. He can also work with Strange to open a portal before his Ultimate to catch enemies off guard. Last but not least, selecting Punisher will be helpful here because he has both a Shotgun and an AR to deal damage at all ranges.
3. Marvel Rivals Team for Flanking
Has the enemy team got you in shambles? It can be the case if their defense is too strong and they can anticipate your next move. So, flanking is the best way to get by in this scenario. Use the following team members:
- Doctor Strange (Vanguard)
- Spider-Man (Duelist)
- Storm (Duelist)
- Hela (Duelist)
- Loki (Strategist)
- Jeff the Land Shark (Strategist)
All names on the list are there to trick and catch your enemies off guard. Doctor Strange’s best flank is to open a portal for some of his allies who may not be able to flank the enemies in the traditional manner like Storm and Hela. Once in position, Storm can easily levitate around and deal damage while Hela can reposition herself using her Astral Flock ability and turn into a Nastrond Crow.
Spider-Man can also confuse enemies using his web-swinging ability and moving quickly between different points while dealing damage. As for Loki, he was made to flank his foes! Jeff, on the other hand, may have been made for straightforward support, but when he uses his Hide and Seek ability, he can sneak around relatively undetected.
4. Marvel Rivals Team for Pure Offense
Sometimes, the best way to go around the fight is to charge into battle. This is especially the case when the enemy team is playing a bit defensively, not allowing any opportunities to strike. So, you would want to switch to pure offense to tackle the situation and create an opening for your team to win.
- Hulk (Vanguard)
- Thor (Vanguard)
- Captain America (VanGuard)
- Wolverine (Duelist)
- Iron Fist (Duelist)
- Adam Warlock (Strategist)
Hulk can charge straight into the battle without much thought because of his 800 HP due to the Season bonus. Thor is also an aggressive vanguard who can cast a shield for himself. As for Captain America, he will be much deadlier in the presence of his Asgardian friend.
Duelists like Wolverine and Iron Fist are not only fun to play but can get up close and personal. This is an effective tactic for when the enemy team is picking you from a distance.
Your team only needs one Strategist if you are planning offense. Things will be a bit difficult but Adam Warlock has Abilities like the Soul Bond which can reduce damage taken and also heal multiple allies at once. When charged, his Ultimate can also revive team members in a safe spot.
5. Marvel Rivals Team for Defensive Play
If the opponents are pushing too much offense and your tactics are not working, try switching to pure defense instead. This will be a gradual progress but an effective one nevertheless.
- Magneto (Vanguard)
- Groot (Vanguard)
- Psylocke (Duelist)
- Adam Warlock (Strategist)
- Luna Snow (Strategist)
- Mantis (Strategist)
Magneto can hold up his shield for a few seconds whenever needed. His shield can’t be depleted but will go down after a few seconds. However, he can also grant shields to other characters or himself on the go. Groot will help the team by pulling up walls and shielding them. It will also create a frustrating maze for enemies that will force them to rush in.
This is where Psylocke should be ready to obliterate them alongside the two tanks and Strategists. She is a good DPS character at both close and mid-ranges. Her passives also allow you to control the crowd more efficiently than most Duelists.
Our Strategists in this team should also be ready to deal damage whenever necessary. Mantis, Luna, and Adam can all deal decent and supporting damage to make quick work of enemies. Plus, three Strategists will easily be able to heal the three allies on the front lines, and each other as the team slowly makes progress towards the objective.
Lastly, the only tip left to give is the fact that you should always keep experimenting with what works best for you. Try using these team compositions as base templates and make necessary changes wherever required.
