Venom can be a difficult character to counter in Marvel Rivals. There are specific reasons for the same. One of them being the fact that his tendrils don’t need a reload and have a decent range that stretches up to 15 meters! So, this Tank doesn’t need to get too close to you to deal damage.

He also has a massive HP of 800. This means it won’t be easy to defeat him, and his skill set and one-star difficulty make him a fierce opponent. Let’s learn about his Abilities and how to counter them in this guide.

To begin with, Venom’s basic attack, the Dark Predation, doesn’t require reloading. On top of it, he can shoot it fairly quickly. If this wasn’t bad enough for you, he also has a range to keep melee attackers at bay. Also look out for Cellular Corrosion, which slows you down and deals explosive damage if you don’t get out of range quickly enough.

The Lethal Protector can use his Venom Swing whenever evade is needed or might surprise you with an explosive drop attack called Frenzied Arrival. He also has Alien Biology, which allows him to crawl and run on walls and ceilings. So, that drop attack may also come as an ambush when your team enters an unsuspected area.

When things get tough, the chocolate-loving symbiote might use his Symbiotic Resilience to gain some armor. The lower the health, the more bonus armor he will get. Although it comes down eventually, the bonus health may become a life-or-death situation for your team.

Lastly, his Ultimate Ability, Feast of the Abyss, allows him to crawl on the ground and emerge with a big mouth that bites through enemies. It doesn’t one-shot you, but it can deal enough damage to let the next attack be the final one.

Since Venom is a Vanguard, you will usually find him at the enemy frontlines or right in the middle of your own party, wreaking havoc. It may not be easy to counter Venom with brute force because of the skills he has at his disposal. So, take note of the following tips to defeat him effectively:

  • If Venom from the enemy team holds aggro and is taking all the charge in the battle, even slipping away from his own team, then you need to stick with your team. He may be strong, but he can’t take down everyone at once.
  • You can ambush the ambusher by reeling him in if the Vanguard likes to rush in. Not even his Symbiotic Resilience will be able to save him. And if this happens indoors, the Venom Swing won’t help him evade, granting you the perfect opportunity to put him down.
  • The best way to avoid Cellular Corrosion is to activate your shield if your character has one. Characters like Namor, Hulk, and Magneto are at an advantage here. Flying characters can fly away, agile ones can dash, and Hulk can leap to create distance from his deadly grip.
  • Unfortunately, Venom’s Ultimate can’t be canceled out, unlike some other ones on the roster. However, if you shoot the bulge on the ground, you will damage him, killing him in the process.
  • Lastly, try to cut his healing supply if you can because as a tank, he already has 800 HP and doesn’t need more of it if you wish to put him down.
