The following are four of the most important tips and tricks that will help you get through the starting portions of the game until you figure out all of the systems and mechanics.

Make Sure You Understand All Hud Elements

Health and temperature info are shown on your HUD in the lower-left corner. Ammo, inventory items, and stamina all appear at the bottom of the screen. You can also see your flashlight charge info in this space. Any debuffs or buffs will appear on the left part of the screen. Lastly, your current objective and skill unlocks appear at the top.

Make sure you also keep an eye on your status bar, where you’ll get information such as whether you’re bleeding or if your character has overeaten. Understanding these elements is crucial to always being on top of what your character requires.

Prioritize Storage and Sources of Water

Early in the game, the most important things you must focus on are creating sufficient storage containers and acquiring clean water from sources such as fountains or pools. The latter becomes even more important if your character has the Dry Skin trait. On the other hand, storage containers will ensure that you always have space to keep all the resources you collect. Lacking that space, you might often have to leave behind important resource materials.

Picking the Best Traits and Jobs

One of the most crucial tips for beginners in Abiotic Factor is to choose your job and traits carefully. We suggest going with the Summer Intern job simply because it comes with the greatest number of trait points. As for traits, make sure you focus on picking the positive ones. For instance, you could opt for the Fanny Pack trait, which increases the size of your Hotbar by two slots. Wrinkly Brainmeat is also a great early-game trait option to choose, as it increases your XP gain by 20 percent.

Understand the Death Mechanics

If you die, all the items in your backpack will drop at the location where you perished. However, any items that were in your Hotbar or equipped on you will not drop to the ground. Instead, they will degrade in durability upon death. Once you respawn, you can simply go back to where you died and recover the items that dropped. Or, you can exit and restart the game, in which case all the death-back items will move to the lobby in the Office Sector. You can collect the items from there instead.
