Raw Consumables in 99 Nights in the Forest

Food items that are raw are the safest bet early on. You can eat them straight from the ground; no cooking is required. They don’t restore much, but they’re everywhere.

• Grocery Store.

Apple

Carrots are your early-game go-to. You’ll see them all over the place, and they’re useful later for making stew. Berries are also common, but they don’t regenerate; you’ll need berry seeds to grow more. Apples are exclusive to the grocery store, and Cake gives you 15 HP along with hunger restoration.

Cooked Consumables in 99 Nights in the Forest

Don’t eat meat raw; it hurts you. Instead, cook it using a campfire or Crock-Pot to get much better benefits.

Tips for Managing Consumables

Here’s what we’ve learned playing through the game:

  • Early game: Carrots and berries are everywhere. Keep eating those until you figure out how to cook.
  • Mid game: Build a campfire and start cooking Morsels and Steaks. It doubles the value and won’t hurt you like raw meat does.
  • Late game: Craft a Crock Pot (15 Wood, 10 Scrap). One stew fills 45% of your hunger, far more efficient than eating raw veggies.

If you’re in co-op, have one player specialize in cooking. Unlocking Hearty Stew from the Cook class can keep your whole team going through tough fights. Explore, gather, and stay fed. Your survival, and the rescue of the missing kids depends on it.
