If you are curious about Destiny 2 Expansions, you should check out our list, which presents the Expansions in order of their release date.

Destiny 2 is a live-service PvE game that boasts many Expansions. After players complete the game’s main campaign, they can play Expansions or stories to keep the thrill going. Since the number of Expansions is hefty, it is easy to lose track. In this article, we will go over the list entire list in chronological order.
Destiny 2 Expansions List in Order
Curse of Osiris (December 5, 2017)

After the main campaign, the Expansion run kicked off with Curse of Osiris, which was released on December 5, 2017. Chronologically, this story takes place after the events of The Red War in the original campaign from Destiny 2. The Tower was destroyed, and the times were desperate. Once the player has saved it all, the Curse of Osiris takes place, allowing everybody to visit Mercury. This is where they rescue Osiris and his Ghost, Safira.
Warmind (May 8, 2018)

The second expansion ever for Destiny 2 was Warmind. The main focus was to let all the players fight against the Hive worm god called Xul and also deal with the tricky Warmind Rasputin. This time around, players got access to Mars instead of Mercury, which was pretty cool. Neither Warmind nor Curse of Osiris can be found on third-party stores like Steam or PlayStation anymore.
Forsaken (September 4, 2018)

This was another Destiny 2 Expansion that came out in 2018. However, unlike Warmind, Forsaken came out on September 4, 2018. It was not as big as the Expansions that came after it, but it marked the start of Bungie’s practice of releasing these Expansions yearly. Another difference between Forsaken and its predecessor is that Forsaken is still available in third party stores for you to buy as an entire pack.
In this Expansion, the players explored two unique areas called the Tangled Shore and the Dreaming City. A new super was added for each Guardian Subclass, and Bow was introduced in the game as a playable weapon.
Shadowkeep (October 1, 2019)

As promised, Bungie delivered an expansive Expansion this time around because it took more than a year. This was also the first Expansion after Bungie had split from Activision Blizzard. Shadowkeep came out on October 1 in 2019. This was the final story content before Beyond Light faced a reset.
Since the Expansion released in October, Bungie prepared something spooky for its player base. Everybody soon found themselves back on the Moon, facing Nightmares of enemies that they had already fought.
Beyond Light (November 10, 2020)

Remember we mentioned that Curse of Osiris and Warmind are no longer available for separate purchases in third-party stores? This is the reason. When Beyond Light was released on November 10, 2020, Bungie made the game free-to-play but removed The Red War and the first two expansions we mentioned. The plus point was that we got the new Armor System, and the Cosmodrome popular in the Destiny franchise also returned.
The Witch Queen (February 22, 2022)

Bungie didn’t release any Expansions in 2021. So, when they delayed the project in development for a release in February, 2022, it came out pretty gigantic on the other side. The Hive Goddess Savathun was the main antagonist in the story. Despite the Expansion not being a Halloween-release, it was pretty creepy because of the things that the Hive Goddess could do. For example, making Light Guardians out of some Hive.
Lightfall (February 28, 2023)

Destiny 2 released its next Expansion called Lightfall on February 28, 2023, almost a year after The Witch Queen. It took us to a Neptunian city under siege. A new Subclass called Strand was introduced along with the Cloud Striders who joined us in the fight. The city on Neptune was called Neomuna and the main objective of this expansion was to protect it from getting destroyed. Unfortunately, the Expansion’s reception was lukewarm.
The Final Shape (June 4, 2024)

The last Expansion update to release in Destiny 2 was The Final Shape. It launched on June 4, 2024. With this update, the game introduced the Prismatic Subclass that can combine Arc, Solar, Void, Stasis, and Strand into a custom subclass. This guardian is arguably be the strongest one. As for the campaign, the war between Light and Darkness is potentially coming to an end soon. Players enter the Traveler to put an end to the Witness in this Expansion.
