This comprehensive guide will list all the Easter eggs in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl and where to find them in The Zone.
A lot of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl Easter eggs that can be found scattered throughout The Zone. Aside from its apocalyptic landscape and scary mutated creatures, it contains hidden secrets, references, and nods to pop culture left by the developers of the open-world survival shooter title. The rush of having the “I understood that reference” moment is incomparable, and players often share their discoveries online and have discussions with others.
This list will cover all the Easter eggs in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. We’ll also explain where or how they can be found and what they mean. Knowing these references will make it even more fun when you spot them in the game.

Call of Duty Campaign Reference
On the top floor of the Polissya Hotel in Pripyat in STALKER 2 Heart of Chornobyl, you can find an M701 sniper rifle on a table overlooking a window. Most players would simply take the loot and call it a day. However, fans who have played the 2007 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare would know that this layout is a reference to the mission “All Ghillied Up.”
In that mission, Lieutenant John Price and Captain MacMillan sneak into the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone for an assassination attempt. The duo set their sniper lookout at the top floor of the Polissya hotel, the same building where the sniper rifle in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is found. From this vantage point, the duo carries out an assassination attempt on the game’s antagonist, Imran Zakhaev.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reference
As you make your way to the rightmost part of the Swamp area in The Zone, you will find an odd-looking tree with a supposedly vintage car stuck between its two trunks. This may not be out of the ordinary for the unforgiving environment, but Potterheads will know this is an Easter egg referencing a scene from Chris Columbus’ hit 2002 film, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
In the movie, Ron stole his parents’ magical flying car with Harry. On their way to Hogwarts, the car eventually crashed to a Whomping Willow, a somewhat sentient tree with bad anger management. Going back to The Zone from Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the rusty old car stuck in the tree is a clear nod to that iconic scene. Fortunately, the tree in the Swamp area does not have magical properties nor is it hostile, so players can take a closer look.
Dark Souls’ Lit Bonfire
Who would’ve thought that a game with its last sequel released back in 2018 would find its way into The Zone? On the rightmost side of the Burnt Forest area, just a few distance from a dam, you will stumble upon a lit bonfire with a sword stuck in it. You can sit near and play a musical instrument just to pass the time, but there’s more to this than just an unmarked location.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl pays tribute to Dark Souls by adding its symbolic bonfire Easter egg to the game. Beyond being a fun reference, it offers a moment to sit back and observe the eerie beauty of nuclear fallout.
Back to the Future III Burning Tracks Reference
While trailing the train tracks just outside of the SKD Assembly building, you may come across a small section of the tracks mysteriously burning eternally. This is actually a clever reference to 1990 cult classic film Back to the Future Part III.
In the movie, Marty McFly attempts to power up their time-traveling DeLorean. In a climactic race against time to avoid being derailed alongside a faulty steam engine train, the tracks burst into flames. It’s a fun little pop-culture reference in the game.
A GeForce RTX GPU Inside SIRCAA
Inside the SIRCAA building, west of the Zaton region, players with an eye for small details will find a surprising modern relic, a GeForce RTX GPU. To find it, enter the building, look to your right and walk straight. Continue moving towards the B2 entrance. Once inside, navigate the leftmost row of tables and walk down to the second-to-last table. Among the clutter, the GPU sits unassumingly.
Classic Shadow of Chornobyl Main Menu Recreation
In Heart of Chornobyl, a subtle homage to the first game’s iconic main menu can be found. Head to the top-left corner near the Red Fortress. While exploring the wilderness, you will stumble upon a broken down brick wall along with some loot and clutter surrounding it.
Before picking up the loot, take a minute to observe the arrangement of the items. You’ll notice that the items are arranged to recreate the main menu design of Stalker: Shadow of Chornobyl. It’s a neat little detail that rewards observant eyes with a wave of nostalgia. While you can grab the sniper rifle placed there, you also have the option to sit in front of the wall, soaking in the moment and appreciating the tribute to the series’ roots.
Classic Shadow of Chornobyl Artwork Location
Longtime fans of the series may remember the iconic promotional artworks from the first game, Shadow of Chornobyl. But do the locations in the artworks exist in the game? One such artwork has been faithfully recreated in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
In the Lesser Zone, near Baptist Hill, is an unmarked location with a small, run down gateway. This spot closely resembles one of the hauntingly beautiful promotional images from the original game, offering a nostalgic moment of recognition. Now, all it needs is a person standing nearby, wearing a gas mask and a yellow hooded jacket while carrying an assault rifle and a traveling bag to complete the homage.
Assassin’s Creed Leap of Faith
The leap of faith is a gameplay mechanic in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and you can experience this iconic move in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Head to the tallest building in the Azimuth Station and make your way to the top. There, find a wooden plank with yellow paint, which is also a visual cue reminiscent of the parkour paths in Ubisoft’s hit stealth game franchise. Jump down where you see two wooden planks with yellow paint pointing at each other.
Now proceed to the best part. You will need to jump down and land on the nearest hay bale. If you aim correctly, you’ll land safely without taking fall damage. It’s a playful reference, but without the cool acrobatic animations or stylish landing moves you might expect from Assassin’s Creed.
Cossacks 3 Mousepad
It’s normal for developers to reference some of their other games from time to time. So, it won’t be a surprise that the RTS game Cossacks 3, a GSC Game World title, has made its way into Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. You can find mouse pads with the game’s promotional poster printed on it beside the computers near the map of Chornarus.
Map of Chernarus and Livonia Postcard From DayZ
Tucked away in the STC Malachite base is a little surprise for fans of the zombie game genre. If you are exploring the area inside the STC Malachite base, you will find a map of Chernarus from DayZ attached to a wall. Just like the harsh environment of The Zone, the Chernarus is known for its harsh terrain and relentless hordes of the infected. This subtle reference is small yet meaningful connection that bridges the communities of these two survival franchises.
Another small DayZ reference is just inside the Post Office. On a table near the entrance, you can see a postcard of Livonia.
Half-Life Reference
We may yet to see the release of Half-Life 3, but we do have a neat Gordon Freeman reference in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl in 2024.
Head northwest of the Restock Depot in Rostok, and you’ll find a crashed helicopter. There should be a path nearby leading to an underground tunnel. Enter the tunnel and walk towards a red cargo container with a skeleton lying next to it. At first, it may seem like a random skeleton, but you’ll notice a pair of eyeglasses and red crowbar beside it. This is a nod to Half-Life’s protagonist Gordon Freeman, whose iconic weapon is a crowbar. He also wears a pair of glasses.
