When booting up the game, it can be a little difficult to know what game mode does what. There are four main game modes that you can play in PvP format, which can be a little confusing, so we’re here to clear that up for you. In this guide, we shall go over all the game modes available in Marvel Rivals and explain them.

What Game Modes Does Marvel Rivals Have

Marvel Rivals comes packed with four game modes that you can play in a PvP setting. Three game modes are:

  • Domination
  • Convoy
  • Convergence
  • Conquest

You can play these game modes in a casual quick match or ranked competitive setting. The only exception is the Conquest game mode, which plays out more like a team death match.

Domination Game Mode

The Domination game mode is an objective-focused game mode that sees both teams duking it out to capture and take control of an objective zone. Whichever team enters the objective first begins capturing it. The enemy team can stop the capture progress by entering and contesting the zone. When the zone is contested, one of the teams must be wiped out for the capture progress to continue. Alternatively, you can also push the enemies out of the zone to resume the progress.

When the zone is captured, the capturing team is awarded the victory point. The game then enters the next round and spawns a new objective for you to capture. Win 2 out of 3 rounds to obtain victory in the game.

This game mode can be played on three maps, which include Yggsgard: Royal Palace, Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda: Birnin T’Challa, and Hydra Charteris Base: Hell’s Heaven.

Convoy Game Mode

The Convoy game mode, as the name suggests, sees one team escorting a convoy while fending off the other team. One team pushes the convoy forward, while the other has to hold it off and send it back.

If attacking, your objective is to push the convoy forward and take it to its destination. You will have to fend off the defending team while doing so. The convoy only moves if the attacking team is in its vicinity, so you have to stay in close proximity to it while fighting the enemy team. Wipe them out, or push them back and continue moving forward. Your main objective is to make sure the convoy reaches its destination before the timer runs out. If it reaches its destination before the timer runs out, you win. However, failing to stop it means defeat.

If defending, your job is to hold back the convoy. You can do so by attacking the enemy team. Kill them all, or push them away from the convoy to stop it in its tracks and send it back. You have to stop the convoy from reaching its destination at all costs until the timer runs out. If the enemy team succeeds in pushing it to its destination, you lose. If you fend them off, however, you win.

This game mode can be played on only two maps, which include Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path and Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands.

Convergence Game Mode

The Convergence game mode functions similarly to the Convoy game mode but is split across three checkpoints. You have to escort the convoy from checkpoint to checkpoint to make progress. Your progress will move from 33 percent to 66 percent to 100 and victory. Once the convoy has hit the checkpoint, it cannot be pushed back any further, making this game mode more attacker-favored.

This game mode can be played on three maps, which include Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya, Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda: Hall of Djalia, and Klyntar: Symbiotic Surface.

Conquest Game Mode

The final game mode is the Conquest game mode. There are no objectives to play for in this mode, and it plays out like a standard team death match. You have to kill members of the enemy team, who will then drop points upon death that you can pick up. The first team to reach 50 points wins the game. In case the timer runs out, the team with the higher score wins.
