Let’s look back at all six of the GTA 5 heists in story mode and rank them in terms of how memorable they are.
It’s amazing how GTA 5, a game that was released back in 2013, remains one of the most beloved franchises to this day. We have to hand it to Rockstar for delivering one of the most unforgettable gaming experiences in the franchise.
While GTA 5’s online mode was the reason why the game skyrocketed into becoming the powerhouse it is today, we can’t forget where it all started. The story mode of the game has one of the most immersive missions, especially the heists. There are only six of them in single-player, but they were enough to help drive the narrative forward.
In this list, we look back at all six of the GTA 5 heists in story mode. We’ll also be ranking in terms of how memorable they are.

Ranking All GTA 5 Heists in Story Mode
Here’s the list of all GTA 5 heists in story mode, ranked in terms of quality:
6. The Jewel Store Job
The Jewel Store Job is the first heist mission in the game. It serves as a tutorial for mechanics like planning and executing robberies. It’s a fun introduction without many complex challenges to overcome.
In this mission, you choose between being sneaky or storming in guns blazing. It’s a simple in-and-out scenario, with relatively low stakes. This is why it ranks at the bottom of the list.
While the mission doesn’t feel particularly high-risk, its simplicity makes it an enjoyable first step into the world of bigger heists.
5. The Merryweather Heist
The Merryweather Heist is a spectacle to behold. You can either choose to use a minisub to recover a cargo container or assault a freighter ship. If you chose to steal the submarine, you’re in for a tedious time.
Don’t get me wrong; a slow-paced scene can be tense when done right. But the pacing of this heist is terribly slow. We’ll give it props for the comedic twist and cinematic flair. What’s worse is that you won’t get any rewards from this heist. Still, it’s one of the weakest heists in GTA 5.
4. The Paleto Score
What’s not to like about Paleto Score? You rob a bank and steal not only money but also the equipment and weapons from a military convoy. You go out guns blazing with heavy armor and a minigun. It is one of the most action-packed heists, featuring a chaotic firefight against waves of police officers.
But that’s about it. The heist is pretty straightforward, and you shoot every officer that comes in your way. It doesn’t have anything interesting in particular. But it’s still a fun mission to play if you enjoy clearing waves of enemies with heavy weaponry.
3. The Bureau Raid
If you’re a fan of spy films like Mission Impossible, you’ll probably like the Bureau Raid heist in GTA 5. You get to choose between a covert approach and cause a scene by planting a bomb or infiltrating through the roof of the FIB Headquarters with the help of a hacker.
The tension builds up nicely as you try not to get caught until the plot demands it. This is one of those heists you’ll want to replay just to explore how the other options play out. The only problem is, it’s a high-stakes mission with a disappointingly low reward.
2. Blitz Play
Rockstar goes the extra mile on this heist. Inspired by the 1995 crime film Heat, Blitz Play involves ambushing an armored truck with a garbage truck while under fire from the police. After raining bullets on your enemies, the crew rides into the sunset with their stolen vehicle and into their getaway location.
A lot of fans don’t consider this a heist. But it is. You steal an armored truck. The crew still did something, compared to the Merryweather Heist, where they got nothing.
It’s an interesting, action-packed mission. The nod to an iconic movie was an added bonus.
1. The Big Score
As the final heist of the game, The Big Score definitely lives up to the hype. The decisions you make during your prep time can determine how much your payout will be upon completion.
One of the options sends you into a very tense stealth sequence. It’s a nail-biting experience as the crew tries not to draw too much attention. You might even have to sacrifice a bit of gold for the sake of completing the heist.
The loud approach, on the other hand, gives you heavy machinery to go out with a bang. You storm the location and take down waves of enemies. However, you’ll also be controlling a helicopter. Drive poorly and you might lose half of the gold you are trying to steal.
This heist deserves to be in the number one spot. It’s definitely a great final act for GTA 5’s heists.
