All Major Buffs and Nerfs in Marvel Rivals Season 1

Here is a list of all major buffs and nerfs coming to certain characters in Marvel Rivals at the onset of Season 1.

Marvel Rivals has been keeping track of the fans’ wishes about nerfing and buffing certain heroes. The developers won’t be able to tweak changes for all characters that may bother you during a match. However, they have listened to player feedback closely to bring about some important updates.

These didn’t come mid-season, probably because the devs needed more time experimenting with them. However, now we have an official list of the characters that are getting nerfed and buffed.

The updates have come officially from the game’s Creative Director and Lead Combat Designer in their latest Dev Diary episode released after the official Season 1 trailer. The trailer itself had many cool details, but the dev vlog gave us insights into more specifics, such as the ones we are about to discuss.

NOTE: The exact details regarding these nerfs or buffs are still confidential and probably won’t be released until the update has been applied.

Heroes Getting Buffs in Marvel Rivals

The characters receiving buffs are:

  • Captain America
  • Wolverine
  • Venom
  • Storm
  • Cloak & Dagger

All of these are receiving different kinds of changes to their gameplay. Diving Vanguards like Captain America and Venom will be able to charge into battle with “renewed vigor.” This means they will become fiercer in upcoming matches after the new season is applied.

Changes are incoming for Wolverine and Storm, allowing them to strategize better on the battlefield. Wolverine has been a topic of debate in the community ever since Season 0 began. It didn’t take long to take down Logan, and it frustrated many fans. A similar situation with Storm forced developers to make some changes.

As for Cloak & Dagger, my experience with the Strategist has always been extraordinary. However, the Dev Diary suggests that some players felt this Strategist couldn’t survive in more diverse teams. This is what they are aiming to change.

The following characters will be getting nerfed this season:

  • Hawkeye
  • Hela
  • Jeff the Land Shark

The developers are nerfing all these Marvel Rivals characters for different reasons. However, the first two share a similar reason. Both Hela and Hawkeye show their prowess when it comes to ranged combat. That is one of the reasons why people pick them for Hero Banning. The Dev Diary suggested that both the characters probably won’t remain the same.

As for Jeffery, the primary concern was its Ultimate. People considered It’s Jeff! overpowered because it can swallow up the entire lobby in one go and get rid of everybody at once. But that’s not what the devs are concerned about. The main issue is that Jeff can swallow characters who are even past the warning marker. This is something that the team will fix with the new update.
