How To Use a Monkey Paw in Phasmophobia
The Monkey Paw is one of the seven Cursed Possession objects and spawns at the rate of 1/7 on every map. It allows players to choose a wish from the set of available ones. It is divided into three types: Ghost-based wishes, Player-based wishes, and Other wishes. Players can also ask for any wish by speaking through the voice chat (if the setting is enabled). The number of wishes a player asks from the Monkey Paw is based on the difficulty reward multiplier, as follows:
- 0x – 1.99x: 5 wishes
- 2x – 2.99x: 4 wishes
- 3x or higher: 3 wishes
However, note that every wish comes with a negative effect, which varies by the severity of the wish.

I wish the ghost was trapped/I wish to trap the ghost | Teleports the ghost to its favorite room, locking all doors for 1 minute. Also, lock the doors of the user’s current room and start a standard hunt after the period ends.
Player | I wish for sanity/I wish to be sane | Sets all players’ sanity to 50%. Increases passive sanity drain by 1.5x, and randomizes the ghost’s favorite room. |
I wish to be safe | Unblocks a nearby hiding spot. Shatters the lights in the room, and allows the ghost to detect the player and their electronics from any distance.
I wish to leave | Unlocks all exit doors immediately, even during hunts. Temporarily reduces the user’s speed and vision for 5 seconds.
Other | I wish for life/I wish to revive my friend | Revives a dead player with a 50% chance of killing the user who made the wish. |
I wish for knowledge | Removes one incorrect piece of evidence and its ghost types. Triggers a cursed hunt with vision and hearing impairments until death or contract end.
I wish for [weather] | Choose the desired weather:—Clear Sky, Fog, Rain, Snow, and Sunrise. Changes the weather as chosen, temporarily blinds the user and deducts 25% sanity (requires at least 25% sanity to use).
I wish for anything | Randomly grants one unused wish from the list. |
