Check out all the upgrades from Nintendo Switch 2. Here are all the visual changes in the new handheld console.
Nintendo Switch 2 is not only upgrading its tech but also its appearance! We gamers are bound to appreciate the beauty of a sleek-looking console/PC, and it looks like Nintendo has delivered in this regard.
The upcoming handheld looks great with these changes. However, the visual upgrades are more than what meets the eye. If you think all Nintendo has done is change its color coding to all-black with slight touches of its original color, then you are wrong! Sure, that’s the most noticeable change in the Nintendo Switch 2, but buckle up because you are in for an interesting ride.
Nintendo Switch 2 Has Plenty of Upgrades
Color-Coding
As we mentioned above, the most obvious visual upgrade in this handheld console series is the color coding. The first Switch was pretty vibrant. I think it suits the vibe of most Nintendo original games. I appreciated the colors that the team came up with. But now it’s all changing.
The colors have reduced significantly. The two Joy-Cons no longer look like they are celebrating a game. The colors remain at the connection ports and around the joysticks to be less distracting while gaming.
All About the Screen
The original Nintendo Switch offered a 6.2-inch display. This was impressive for a handheld console compared to others that came before it. Nintendo improved it to 7 inches when they released the OLED version of their device. The gamers got a bigger screen along with a crisper output.
Now, we can see that the console is definitely getting bigger. We are not sure about the actual size of the screen just yet and might have to wait until the full reveal. The reveal video shows a bigger size, though. And of course, the OLED is back, but this time, in the standard edition itself. Apart from that, there is also a backstand in the default design to let you play at a comfortable angle.
Evolving Joy-Cons
The original console came up with the idea of detachable Joy-Cons. This was another evolutionary mechanic in the handheld line of consoles. You could slide your Joy-Cons from the side rails, starting from the top and bringing it down until you hear a click. This was a pretty cool feature and a satisfying sound. This is also evolving!
The Nintendo Switch 2 now offers the Joy-Cons with USB-C ports on each con. These ports face inward and connect to a central screen. The controllers are magnetically held together, probably also for that crisp attaching sound.
The size of these Joy-Cons is also increasing to suit the new screen’s developed size, and let’s not forget the color changes we talked about earlier.
