Marvel Rivals characters are classified into three classes such as Strategist, Duelist, and Vanguard and this guide explains the roles of each class.
Marvel Rivals is an upcoming highly anticipated project from NetEase Games in collaboration with Marvel. The free-to-play third-person shooter game is releasing for PC, PS5, and Xbox X/S on December 6, 2024. The superhero fighter game brings up the popular characters from the Marvel universe.
Akin to other shooter games such as Overwatch, Marvel Rivals follows a class system for all the characters. Since it is a team (6v6)-based shooter, every character will be assigned a specific role to fulfill within the team. There are totally three roles in Marvel Rivals.
All Classes (Roles) in Marvel Rivals
All the characters in Marvel Rivals are divided into three classes (roles). They are Strategist, Duelist, and Vanguard. Each class has a specific role and purpose that leads their team to victory. Let’s see how each class works in NetEase Games’s team-based shooter Marvel Rivals:
Strategist
Let’s start with Strategist, the typical support class that exists in other similar games. Their role is to support their allies on the battlefield. Characters affiliated with the Strategist class heal and enhance allies’s abilities during the fight. The role of this class, which often has healing and supporting type abilities, is not as aggressive as the other two. It makes it a perfect class for beginners in this genre.
However, keep in mind that your team depends on you for assistance for healing and other support. Due to the low health, Strategists are easily wiped out. So you need to heal and preserve yourself before your teammates. Characters such as Loki and Rocket Raccoon are some of the best choices for the Strategist class.
Duelist
Next, we have Duelist, as the name suggests they are the best choices if you want to eliminate enemies in the one-on-one face-off (Duel). As a result, the characters with the Duelist class have offence-oriented abilities. Although extremely handy in duel face-offs, these characters likely have low HP. It makes the class suitable for advanced players.
Rushing on a large group of enemies with overconfidence often results in failure. So focus on isolated enemies unless you have backup support from your team members. Characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man, and The Punisher work best for the Duelist class.
Vanguard
Finally, we have Vanguard, which resembles the tank class in other games. Vanguard is the combination of Duelist and Strategist, as the class shares the roles and abilities of both classes. Vanguard is perfect for intermediate users with a balanced class system.
By providing support to allies and having a higher health bar compared to the other classes, Vanguards’ versatility makes them all-rounders on the battlefield. Vanguard’s abilities often focus on leading the team front in the battle and protecting teammates. The best picks for the Vanguard class include Hulk, Thor, and Dr Strange.
