Shields are perfect for different playstyles in combat scenarios as they offer strengths and weaknesses. - Ethereal Plane- The Ethereal Plane is an endgame Shield that you can get while exploring the north Sun Temple and opening a gold chest. It has high parry and durability and comes with a 10% Shroud Resistance. However, it has a low black stat as compared to the other Shields.
- Shield of Sight- This one is a respectable Shield with a high block stat. This is the best Shield to equip if you’re a Warrior and plan to defend your teammates. You can craft at your base as you level up the Blacksmith.

What is the difference between Shield and Ward?
Shield and Ward are the two different defensive tools that players can equip in Enshrouded while progressing through different areas. Both offer strengths and weaknesses, allowing the players to be equipped with any kind of build. Wards are specially built for mages and warriors. Parry Power and defense are the two major differences between the Wards and Shields.
Shields offer more Parry Power and defense than the Wards. However, the mechanics of Shields and Wards are the same except for their capability to offer defense and Parry Power. If the Shields are better in terms of defensive stats, then where do the Wards stand in the game? Wards offer different stats when they come with added elemental resistances. However, if you’re not planning for a block and Parry then Ward is your viable option and Shield is your best option if you are the kind of a player that loves to block and parry.
Players should know the difference between parrying an attack and blocking an attack. Hit the block button at the exact time your enemy’s attack will result in a parry. The Parry will nullify the enemy attack and the stagger meter below the enemy’s health bar will be built. The enemy will be vulnerable for a few seconds once the stagger meter fills up. A better Shield can stagger an enemy in a single parry but the Wards takes two parries to fill up the stagger meter.
What is the purpose and use of the Shields?
Block your enemy attacks and reduce damage by equipping a better Shield. Shields. However, you can’t use Shields while utilizing a two-handed weapon, so bows and staves are out of the question. You can still equip a Shield while using them but will be unable to use it if you don’t uncover your weapon which feels very chunky.
The Shield is the best bet if you like to use parry for defense apart from just dodge rolling. Power Parry, Arcane Deflection, and Bash are some special skills good for parrying. If you’re going for a melee or tank build then having a Shield is a no-brainer.
