Silent Hill 2 Remake features a total of 44 trophies. While some of them do unlock automatically as you complete the game’s story, others require a bit more effort. The majority of the game’s trophies are tied to its multiple endings. There are also some trophies that require interacting with special “key items” or triggering specific events. While unlocking most of Silent Hill 2 Remake’s trophies isn’t particularly difficult, some of them can be a bit tricky to unlock, blocking your path to the coveted “Platinum” trophy. These trophies usually require completing the game under certain conditions or finding something that’s quite easy to miss out on.

Thankfully, unlike the recent Resident Evil remakes, none of Silent Hill 2’s trophies are tied to difficulty. You can basically grab the Platinum even if you play the entire game multiple times on the easiest difficulty preset. However, apart from some of the basic story-related trophies, most others will require going through the New Game Plus mode.

Here’s a comprehensive guide on all Silent Hill 2 Remake trophies, including the best strategies to unlock them. Do note that this article contains story spoilers for Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Trophy Guide

There are a total of 44 trophies in Silent Hill 2 Remake, including the Platinum trophy. Out of the 44 trophies, 28 are Bronze, 12 are Silver, 3 are Gold, and the last one is the Platinum. Unlocking all the trophies for the remake grants you 1,350 points for your PSN profile. The regular playthrough of Silent Hill 2 takes somewhere between 15 to 20 hours. However, if you’re going for the Platinum trophy, it’ll take you roughly 50 to 60 hours, depending on the number of playthroughs completed and the difficulty preset chosen.

You can cut down the overall time to get the Platinum short by roughly 10 hours if you try to get multiple trophies in a single playthrough. Since none of the trophies are tied to difficulty, it’s very much possible to get some of the most challenging ones in a single New Game Plus playthrough, if you play your cards right. Trophies like I Saw That TownRadio SilenceFaster Than Fog, and As Close As You Like, can be easily unlocked on your first New Game Plus playthrough.

Best Strategies to Get the Platinum Trophy in Silent Hill 2 Remake

The best way to get the Platinum trophy is to follow a guide for the endings and also play the game on the Light preset. New Game Plus gives you access to the Chainsaw weapon, which, coupled with the Light difficulty preset, will allow you to focus more on getting all the ending-related items, without having to worry too much about combat.

Furthermore, you can make use of the game’s accessibility features like the High Contrast mode to easily locate items on the map. Most of the trophies are quite easy and can be unlocked on your first playthrough. The ones that do require New Game Plus can be grabbed easily if you play on the Light difficulty.

Some players may find the Faster Than Fog trophy to be a bit difficult. Given Silent Hill 2 Remake generally takes around 20 hours to complete, finishing the game in less than 10 hours can be quite challenging. In the remake, the majority of the time is spent figuring out solutions for the puzzles, which, even on repeat playthroughs, can be quite confusing. Thankfully, most of the puzzles in the game can be bypassed as long as you remember the codes from your previous playthrough. Do note that codes differ across different difficulty presets.

However, if you stick to the same difficulty for repeat playthroughs, you can easily get by using the same codes/solutions for most of the puzzles in Silent Hill 2. There are a few randomized puzzles, but they don’t take all that long to complete. If you plan an optimized route, you can complete the game in less than eight hours, quite easily.
