Don’t lose track of all the careers in Sims 4. Learn the paths that your Sims can take to help sustain their family and themselves.

The Sims 4 has plenty of careers for your Sims to choose from, true to the spirit of a life simulation game. If your Sims work hard, they will boast a hefty Simoleon balance, which will no doubt make their lives easier. Different careers offer different wages, and the daily tasks vary greatly. Performing the daily tasks will boost your Sims’ productivity so they can get promotions and raises quickly. While part-time jobs don’t have daily tasks per se, you can always improve your skill further.

Many careers on the list were released with the base game in September 2014, and some were later introduced with DLCs.

Full-Time Jobs

  • Actor: Introduced in the Get Famous Expansion Pack, Acting is a full-time job. The only daily task an actor has is during the first two career levels. They have to develop the Acting skill.
  • Astronaut: This full-time job from the base game usually requires you to play chess and work out daily.
  • Athlete: An athlete Sim will be required to work out in the initial levels of their career. Past level 4, they can either choose to be Professional Athletes or Bodybuilders. One would require them to study opponents, and the other would require them to mentor fitness. This career is in the base game itself.
  • Social Media: It is a part of the City Living expansion. You have to update social media status, share jokes with followers, and network with journalists daily.
  • Military: This came with Strangerville. Work out, go jogging, and spar with others to progress daily tasks. Tasks on higher levels differ greatly depending on the career path you choose.
  • Painter: Create paintings in this full-time job from the base game.
  • Politician: This is a full-time job introduced first in City Living. Successfully promote cause, secure votes, and collect donations.
  • Style Influencer: This is included in the base game as a full-time job. The Sims discuss outfits or fashion, update social media status, and gather impressions.
  • Tech Guru: This is another full-time job in the base game. Daily tasks involve playing video games and/or programming.
  • Business: You can find this full-time career option in the base game. Fill out reports during the first six levels. Then, either go on to make business calls in the Management branch or research stocks in the Investor branch.
  • Salary-person: This full-time job was introduced first in the Snowy Escape expansion. Prepare semi-important reports, optimize spreadsheet formula, and host a phone conference as your daily tasks.
  • Scientist (active): This is a full-time job in the Get To Work expansion that has no daily tasks in particular.
  • Civil Designer: The Eco Lifestyle expansion pack brought this new career as a full-time job. Interview a homeowner about utilities. After Level 3, either gain influence or fabricate an eco-upgrade part, depending on whether you take the Civic Planner or Green Technician branch.
  • Conservationist: Get this full-time job in the Island Living expansion pack. Spread conservation awareness to other Sims. From level 7 onward, either prepare a grant application as an Environmental Manager or survey ocean wildlife as a marine biologist.
  • Criminal: You can pull off the perfect crime in the base game itself. It is a full-time job that requires you to use mischief interactions daily and then branch out to many other activities.
  • Gardener: The Seasons expansion pack gave us this full-time job. Your Sims have to either harvest or craft flower arrangements on the regular.
  • Interior Decorator (active): A full-time job in the Dream Home Decorator with no daily tasks.
  • Law: File court documents, offer legal representation, make rulings as a judge, or obtain new clients as a private attorney. Discover University will give you access to this career.
  • Critic: A full-time job in the City Living expansion, it requires you to practise writing and write columns on a daily basis.
  • Culinary: Prepare food and drinks if one of your Sims has this full-time job from the base game.
  • Education: Grade homework in the teacher’s padfolio, review budget proposals, and write scholarly paper while progressing higher.
  • Engineer: Tinker at the Robotic Workstation. Either construct a computer chip or a mechanism on bigger levels.
  • Entertainer: This base game career requires you to write jokes or practice music on the daily. There are two branches after level 4. Either play instruments or write and perform routines to choose your path as a Musician or a Comedian.
  • Detective (active): Introduced in the Get To Work expansion, it doesn’t have any daily tasks.
  • Secret Agent: Browse intelligence as your daily task. The rest is dependent on your career choices. This is a full-time job in the base game itself.
  • Doctor (active): Included in the Get To Work expansion, it requires you to show up every day.
  • Writer: Lastly, one more full-time job in the base game. Read books, write books, and write articles for daily progression.

Part-Time Jobs

  • Babysitter: This is a part-time job. No daily tasks. Included in the base game.
  • Sim-fluencer: Part-time job first seen in the High School Years.
  • Barista: Another part-time job from the base game with no daily tasks as such.
  • Diver: A part of the Island Living expansion. Part-time job with no daily tasks.
  • Fast Food Employee: Part-time base game job with no daily tasks.
  • Fisherman: A part-time job introduced in the Island Living expansion. No daily tasks.
  • Lifeguard: A part-job from Island Living. No daily tasks.
  • Manual Laborer: A part-time job from the base game. No daily tasks.
  • Retail Employee: No daily tasks for this part time job in the base game.
  • Video Game Streamer: A part-time job in the High School Years expansion. There are no daily tasks.

Freelancer Jobs

  • Self-employed: Become a freelancer without any daily tasks in the base game. There are multiple career paths you can pursue.
  • Freelancer: A freelancing job from the base game. No daily tasks.

Afterschool Jobs

  • Soccer Team Player: A Discover University afterschool activity where your Sim practices kicking or juggling a soccer ball. You can also have them study or discuss soccer strategies and study plays.
  • Football Team Member: Brought to us by High School Years. This is an afterschool activity where a Sim practices football daily.
  • Scout: Check badge progress on the Scouting Badge Board. This is an afterschool activity in the Seasons expansion.
  • Computer Team Member: One more High School Years career. Practice programming during this afterschool activity.
  • Cheer Team Member: Introduced in the High School Years expansion, this is an afterschool activity that requires you to practice cheer with a cheer mat.
  • Chess Team Member: This is an afterschool activity. Playing chess is the only daily task.
  • Drama Club: The Get Famous expansion introduces this afterschool activity where you practice acting and dramatics. Learn new lines as you progress.
  • E-Sports Competitor: Discover University gives you this afterschool activity to play SimScuffle Solo or research SimScuffle strategies daily.
