Learn about all the stats and attributes in our Path of Exile 2 guide along with how they work and affect your character.
Path of Exile 2 is an expansive action RPG set in the vast treacherous world of Wraeclast. Similar to the original game, the successor includes various stats including three core attributes and various new mechanics. So, it is best to learn about all the stats and the new mechanics that count as stats whether you are a new player or a returning veteran. In this guide, we will be going over all the Stats in Path of Exile 2 and explaining them so that you can have a better understanding of them when you look at your character sheet.
What are the Stats in POE 2?
The stats in Path of Exile 2 represent the overall capabilities of your character at a glance. There are six different classes from which you get to choose one for your adventure at the beginning. Each class ties with one of the three core attributes in the game, allowing you to build your character either in the corresponding way to the attribute and its effects or mix and match with other attributes for various synergies.
In addition to the importance of attributes, there are major stats like Life, Mana, Energy Shield, etc. Each of these stats corresponds with the three core attributes. Moreover, the final set of stats is your character’s resistance. These resistance percentages or bonuses will not completely negate a certain type of elemental damage but only lower the damage.
Types of Stats in POE 2
There are three main types of Stats in Path of Exile 2. These are Attributes, main stats including defensive, and Resistance. You can view all of these stats in the Character Sheet by pressing the “C” on PC. The character sheet in Path of Exile 2 is cleaner and simpler than the original game. All of the stats are mentioned on a single sheet without any additional tabs which makes it easier for the player to go through all the stats at once.
All Stats in POE 2
With all types of Stats mentioned above, let’s take a look at all of these stats individually. Moreover, we will explain all of the attributes and stats for you in detail along with their working. Here are all the stats in Path of Exile 2.

Attributes
Attributes are Strength (STR), Dexterity (DEX), and Intelligence (INT) which provide stats of their own to a character.
- 1 STR: +2 to maximum Life
- 1 DEX: +5 to Accuracy Rating
- 1 INT: +2 to maximum Mana
Moreover, each piece of equipment in the game (weapons and gems) has a certain level requirement and attribute requirement. Without meeting these requirements, a character cannot equip the equipment items or socket the gems into skills.
All three of these attributes build character archetypes with class types based on the passive skill tree. Players can enhance their class-based attributes with the respective alignments in the passive skill tree. Moreover, unlocking the nodes of a character’s preferred attribute will eventually move to another alignment node. Unlocking the nodes here will combine the stats for both attributes.
Furthermore, there is also an attribute requirement for Support Gems in PoE 2. For every +5 of an attribute, it can increase the number of Support Gems for that corresponding attribute. It is one of the best ways to enhance your character build in a certain attribute. The best way to increase the support gems for your skills is to get the “highway nodes” in the passive skill tree. Each highway node will have a choice of adding +5 STR, +5 DEX, or +5 INT.
Strength [STR]
Strength is one of the attributes of a character and it is important for acquiring the Melee Weapons. Every melee weapon will have a STR requirement along with a level requirement. Without meeting those requirements, players will not be able to equip and use those weapons. Moreover, the Strength attribute adds a number to a character’s Life so, for you to increase your character’s HP, invest in Strength.
Furthermore, investing in Strength will increase the overall Armour stat of the character which reduces the overall physical damage and makes them a tank. Certain classes like Warrior and Mercenary should invest in the Strength attribute for the beginning for overall better stats and weapon usage.
Dexterity [DEX]
Dexterity is one of the attributes of a character and it is important for increasing the Accuracy Rating on Ranged Weapons. For every point a player invests in Dexterity, it will increase the accuracy rating for the ranged weapons by +5. Moreover, the Dexterity attribute is also tied to the Evasion stat. Evasion is necessary for dodging strikes and projectiles.
Monk class is one of the better examples that need a high evasion rating to dodge the attacks while engaging in close-range combat. Furthermore. The Ranger and Mercenary classes use ranged weapons. So, for them to have a high accuracy rating, they must invest more in the Dexterity attribute.
Intelligence [INT]
Intelligence is one of the attributes of a character and it is important for casting spells. Most of the spells and magic weapons have an INT requirement along with a level requirement. Without meeting those requirements, players will not be able to equip and cast/use certain spells and weapons. Moreover, the Intelligence attribute is directly tied to the Mana stat and every point in INT adds +2 Mana.
Mana is an essential resource for casting spells and using active skills for all the characters. For classes that use spells, it is more valuable to have a large pool of Mana. If you are playing either a Sorceress or a Witch class, consider investing in INT at earlier levels to improve spellcasting.
Main Stats
The main stats include HP, Mana, and other defensive stats of a character along with some new mechanics that were introduced in Path of Exile 2.
Life
Life is basically your character’s Health. It is the Red Pool on the bottom left corner of the screen. Every time your character takes damage, the Life pool reduces. It can be refilled using a Health Flask. However, if a character runs out of Health Pool, they die. To increase the Maximum Life for a character, invest in the STR attribute. Each STR point increases Life by +2.
Mana
Mana is an essential resource for casting spells. It is the blue pool on the bottom right corner of the screen. All the spells and skills cost mana to cast/use. Mana regenerates slowly over time. To increase the Maximum Mana for a character, invest in the INT attribute. Each INT point increases Mana by +2.
Spirit
Spirit is a new resource in PoE 2 that is used to reserve the various reservation skills that grant auras, buffs, totems, minions, etc. Unlike the original game, these reservation skills will no longer cost Mana, allowing all classes to keep Mana at full and use the active skills frequently. The Spirit bar is located right above the Mana pool.
You can gain and increase Spirit from certain Passive Skill Tree nodes, gear modifiers, and defeating campaign bosses. All of these will increase your maximum Spirit allowing you to activate more reservation skills. Moreover, there are certain equipment items like Sceptres that grant more Spirit just from using it.
Energy Shield
Energy Shield is a defensive stat of a character that acts as a hit pool and takes damage from the attacks before the actual health pool. The Energy Shield recharges at a rate of 33.3% every 4 seconds only if the character does not take any damage. If a character gets hit, the recharging of Energy Shield will be interrupted. It will continue once the recharge period has passed again.
However, the Energy Shield does not block status effects like Poison and Bleeding. Unlike the original game, Chaos damage does not pass through the Energy Shield but it does double damage to it. Moreover, the Energy Shield has a built-in stun prevention mechanic. It allows the character to avoid getting stunned. However, the chance of not getting stunned is 50%.
Armour
Armour reduces the Physical Damage you take from both Attacks and Spells. It provides no additional benefit against other damage types like Fire, Cold, Chaos, and Lightning. The exact Damage Reduction depends on the Damage dealt. However, the maximum amount of Armour that a character can have is 90%.
Evasion
Evasion is a dodge stat for a character to avoid enemy strikes and projectiles. The main dodge mechanic in Path of Exile 2 is Dodge Rolling. It is one of the new mechanics in the game and is for all classes. Moreover, the exact chance of avoiding an attack successfully also depends on the attacker’s Accuracy. If an enemy has a higher accuracy rating, it is harder to avoid the strike or projectile.
Block
The Block is a new mechanic in PoE 2 that allows you to block any melee strike and projectiles mainly using a Shield (gear item). This new action is done with the Raise Shield ability which is an implicit modifier on almost all strength-based shields. Moreover, there are other abilities as well that allow a player to enter the Active Block state.
NOTE:The AOE attacks or the stronger attacks telegraphed as Red cannot be blocked.
Raising the shield will allow the players to negate any strikes and projectiles from the front. However, the character will be damaged by any strikes and projectiles coming from the sides and the back. With this blocking maneuver, there is an endurance bar that works as a resource for blocking the hits. Every hit and projectile you block with the shield will consume a certain amount of endurance.
As the endurance bar depletes, the character’s movement speed will reduce. If the bar is completely depleted, the character will enter a stun state for a short period making them vulnerable to all attacks.
Resistance
The Resistance stat shows the capped and maximum resistance for a damage type. Each resistance type reduces the corresponding damage type. However, if the resistance stat is a negative number, the character will take more damage from the corresponding damage type.
The maximum resistance for any damage type is 75%. You can increase the resistance further using the gear modifiers but it will not go higher than 90%.
Electrical
You take less overall damage from the Electrical Damage type. The reduction of Electrical Damage depends on the amount of Resistance your character has.
Fire
You take less overall damage from the Fire Damage type. The reduction of Fire Damage depends on the amount of Resistance your character has.
Cold
You take less overall damage from the Cold Damage type. The reduction of Cold Damage depends on the amount of Resistance your character has.
Chaos
You take less overall damage from the Chaos Damage type. The reduction of Chaos Damage depends on the amount of Resistance your character has.
