All Weapon Battle Arts (Skills and Abilities) in Dynasty Warriors Origins

The Battle Arts system in Dynasty Warriors: Origins offers and versatile approach to combat, allowing each weapon to unlock a distinct set of skills and abilities that can turn the tide of battle. Whether you prefer the powerful slashes of a greatsword, the nimble strikes of a spear, or the ferocious whirlwind of an axe, each weapon comes with its own signature moves that shape the way you fight.

This guide dives deep into the Battle Arts available for every weapon in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, providing an in-depth look at their abilities, effects, and how they can be used to gain the upper hand against your enemies. We’ll explore the strengths of each weapon type, their unique Battle Arts, and how mastering them can transform you into a true force of nature on the battlefield.

Battle Arts Weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Halbred Weapon Gameplay DWO

Battle Arts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins are the individual abilities that you can unlock for weapons in the game. Each of the ten weapon types will have unique Battle Arts that build on their individual strengths. When you first unlock a new weapon type, you will have access to three Battle Art abilities as a default. Additionally, you can purchase/unlock two more in the store. You can also unlock at least four more for each weapon by completing quests, increasing companion relationships, and increasing peace.

Furthermore, using your Battle Arts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins requires Bravery. Bravery is a special recourse that you can generate by successfully hitting enemies with normal attacks. The more normal attacks you can string together without being interrupted, the more Bravery you will build. You can also increase the total amount of Bravery and how you gain it through skill passives, portables, and weapon traits.

Additionally, all Battle Art skills can be Mastered. You work towards mastery of a Battle Art by using the ability in combat. Moreover, once Mastered, your Battle Art ability gains additional effects and power.

Finally, some Weapon Battle Arts in Dynasty Warriors Origins are designated as ‘Special’. Typically, this means that they possess the ability to interrupt enemy attacks. Therefore, when choosing your four active Battle Art abilities, always make sure to have at least one Special.

All Sword Battle Art Abilities

Sword Battle Arts DWO

The Sword is your starting weapon in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, and consequently you do not have to do anything special to unlock it.

Here are all of the Sword weapon Battle Arts abilities you can unlock in Dynasty Warriors: Origins:

  • Shadowless Blade
  • [Sp.] Palm Strike
  • Swallow Slash
  • Mad Blade Rush
  • Falcon Flurry
  • [Sp.] Absconding Slash
  • Flying Dragon Slash
  • Shadow Dance
  • Divine Eagle Dance

Shadowless Blade

Dynasty Warriors Origins Sword Battle Art Shadowless Blade

All Shadowless Blade features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Bravery Cost: 1
  • Mastery Requirement: 200
  • Description: Spin around while swinging your sword, generating a whirlwind in front of you to strike the enemy.

Shadowless Blade is a good low-cost Battle Art ability that does decent damage and also ‘stuns’ enemies that are hit. However, although it can strike multiple enemies in front of you, you’ll still need to watch your back for enemies charging up behind.

[Sp.] Palm Strike

Dynasty Warriors Origins Sword Battle Art Special Palm Strike

All [Sp.] Palm Strike features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Bravery Cost: 1
  • Mastery Requirement:
  • Description: Focus your Bravery into a palm strike. This Special can interrupt certain attacks and stagger the enemy.

Palm Strike is a great early-game special Battle Art ability for the sword. It only costs one Bravery, and is very easy to always have on-hand as an interrupt. You’ll probably want to switch it out with something stronger later on, but this is a good first choice.

Swallow Slash

DWO Sword Battle Art Special Swallow Slash

All Swallow Slash features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Bravery Cost: 2
  • Mastery Requirement:
  • Description: Reverse your sword grip and perform a wide slashing attack in front of you. can be performed rapidly.

Swallow Slash is a decent early-game Battle Art ability for the sword, but will likely not be one that you have on your active bar for very long. This attack only hits enemies directly in front of you, so be careful when there surrounded.

Mad Blade Rush

Dynasty Warriors Origins Sword Battle Art Special Mad Blade Rush

All Mad Blade Rush features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Bravery Cost: 2
  • Mastery Requirement: 100
  • Description: Slash around you while running, catching enemies in your patch and then sending them flying.

Mad Blade Rush is a much better early Battle Art ability choice for the sword because of the speed and mobility it grants you. Moreover, because you’re swinging the sword around as you move, you’ll be creating a small radius AOE that will clear out enemies in the path ahead. Because you’re on the move, you don’t have to worry about enemies at your back, either.

Falcon Flurry

DWO Sword Battle Art Special Falcon Flurry

All Falcon Flurry features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement:
  • Description: Perform a flurry of forward slashes in a concentrated manner to form a powerful attack.

Falcon Flurry is a decent ability that will mostly cause damage to the enemy or boss right in front of you but can also hit other nearby opponents. Additionally, the ability appears to have a slight amount of range, so you can keep a bit of distance from your enemy.

[Sp.] Absconding Slash

DWO Sword Battle Art Special Absconding Slash

All Absconding Slash features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 80
  • Description: Deliver a single slash and then move back quickly. This Special can interrupt certain attacks and stagger the enemy.

Absconding Slash has a higher Bravery cost than a simple interrupt like Palm Strike. However, using the Absconding Slash ability will not only stop a boss attack but will let you dash back. This will give you a bit of distance from your opponent when you are feeling under pressure.

Flying Dragon Slash

Dynasty Warriors Origins Sword Battle Art Special Flying Dragon Slash

All Flying Dragon Slash features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Bravery Cost: 4
  • Mastery Requirement: 50
  • Description: Jump up to launch a shockwave in the air. Can hit distant enemies within a large area. Can also be performed in midair.

As we start to get into the higher Bravery cost Sword abilities, Flying Dragon Slash is one of the first that gives this weapon a serious area-of-effect radius. Moreover, it can also hit enemies at a distance, giving you some much-needed range.

Shadow Dance

Dynasty Warriors Origins Sword Battle Art Special Shadow Dance

All Shadow Dance features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Bravery Cost: 5
  • Mastery Requirement: 40
  • Description: Use magic to generate a shadow of yourself. The shadow will unleash a series of moves which send enemies within a large area flying.

Although it’s a high-cost Battle Art ability, Shadow Dance offers some nice crowd control to move enemies off when you’re feeling under pressure. Create a shadow clone and the enemies will not only attack it instead of you, but the clone’s attacks will pull in the enemies it hits and then throw them even further back.

Divine Eagle Dance

Dynasty Warriors Origins Sword Battle Art Special Divine Eagle Dance

All Divine Eagle Dance features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Sword
  • Bravery Cost: 6
  • Mastery Requirement:
  • Description: Deliver a rapid flurry of sword strikes, generating a number of energy flares around you which explode after a few moments.

The final, most powerful Sword Battle Art ability, Divine Eagle Dance is a truly powerful AOE. You can use it to deal single-target damage to a boss directly. However, with each strike, you will create energy that builds in a globe surrounding you. This will then explode, pushing back any nearby enemies.

All Spear Battle Art Abilities

All Spears in Dynasty Warriors Origins

The spear is the second weapon you will unlock in DWO, and will be rewarded to you after the Battle of Guangyang. They give you a much wider range of attack, and the pointed blade at the top is typically narrow.

Here are all of the Spear weapon Battle Arts abilities you can unlock in Dynasty Warriors: Origins:

  • Piercing Vengeance
  • Spree of Devastation
  • Wild Rush
  • [Sp.] Aerial Assault
  • Rising Dragon Vortex
  • Savage Thrust Barrage
  • Dance of the Whirlwind
  • Dragon Flash

Piercing Vengeance

Dynasty Warriors Origins Spear Battle Art Piercing Vengeance

All Piercing Vengeance features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Spear
  • Bravery Cost: 1
  • Mastery Requirement: 200
  • Description: Take a parrying stance. If attacked while in this stance, you will perform a swift counterstrike.

Piercing Vengeance is one of the Battle Art skills for the spear that will be available as a default and it’s a decent, low-cost damage-dealing ability. However, this ability does not interrupt more powerful boss attacks. It will only trigger when you are hit with a regular strike.

Spree of Devastation

Dynasty Warriors Origins Spear Battle Art Spree of Devastation

All Spree of Devastation features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Spear
  • Bravery Cost: 2
  • Mastery Requirement:
  • Description: Perform a sweeping attack with your spear, sending surrounding enemies flying.

The Spree of Devastation ability is a great knock-back ability that will easily clear some space around you on the battlefield. Although you swing the spear all the way around you, most of the force of the strike will hit enemies directly in front of you.

Wild Rush

Dynasty Warriors Origins Spear Battle Art Wild Rush

All Wild Rush features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Spear
  • Bravery Cost: 2
  • Mastery Requirement: 100
  • Description: Thrust your spear while charging forward. When performed in midair, you will rush toward the ground.

The Wild Rush Battle Art for the spear is a nice low-cost gap closer that allows you to devastate the enemy’s frontlines. However, keep in mind that if you use this ability to rush into a large group of enemies, you can leave yourself vulnerable to being flanked on the sides.

[Sp.] Aerial Assault

Dynasty Warriors Origins Spear Battle Art Aerial Assault

All Aerial Assault features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Spear
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 80
  • Description: Jump backward and launch a shockwave. This Special can interrupt certain attacks and stagger the enemy.

This is the first interrupt ability that is unique to the spear, but it has a higher cost than the Power Shot ability you can unlock in the Expert Rank passive skill tree. However, if you don’t have access to that ability yet, then Aerial Assault will serve as a good placeholder.

Rising Dragon Vortex

Dynasty Warriors Origins Spear Battle Art Rising Dragon Vortex

All Rising Dragon Vortex features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Spear
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 70
  • Description: Jump up while spinning, thrusting upwards with your spear. Strengthens any follow-up aerial attacks. Can also be performed in midair.

The best way to use the Rising Dragon Vortex ability would be to pair it with another Battle Art ability that can be performed in midair, so you get the additional damage. Wild Rush would be a great option for this, as the cost of chaining these two abilities together would be 5 Bravery.

Savage Thrust Barrage

Dynasty Warriors Origins Spear Battle Art Savage Thrust Barrage

All Savage Thrust Barrage features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Spear
  • Bravery Cost: 4
  • Mastery Requirement: 50
  • Description: Repeatedly thrust your weapon forward in a concentrated manner to form a powerful attack.

Savage Thrust Barrage is a good combination of single-target damage directly against a boss. Additionally, the strikes can reach beyond the opponent you are hitting directly and can impact enemies beyond. Finally, the hit will swing your spear around in a sweep, knocking foes back.

Dance of the Whirlwind

Dynasty Warriors Origins Spear Battle Art Dance of the Whirlwind

All Dance of the Whirlwind features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Spear
  • Bravery Cost: 5
  • Mastery Requirement:
  • Description: Swing your spear to generate a whirlwind around you. Enemies within a large area will be gradually pulled in.

Dance of the Whirlwind is a great crowd-control ability to use when you are surrounded by multiple enemies. As the whirlwind pulls enemies up off the ground they will not be able to attack you, in addition to taking damage.

Dragon Flash

Dynasty Warriors Origins Spear Battle Art Dragon Flash

All Dragon Flash features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Spear
  • Bravery Cost: 8
  • Mastery Requirement: 25
  • Description: Launch a shockwave with a powerful thrust, sending enemies within a large area in front of you flying.

Dragon Flash is an expensive ability, costing all of your 8 Bravery to use. Moreover, you won’t unlock this until end game. However, it deals a massive amount of damage, and shreds through officers’ fortitude, making it a must-have for assaulting high HP bosses.

All Gauntlets Battle Art Abilities

All Gauntlets in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Gauntlets in Dynasty Warriors: Origins are a physical, personal type of weapon that allows you to strike an enemy multiple times very quickly. You will unlock them after completing the Battle of Guangzong.

Here are all of the Gauntlet Weapon Battle Arts abilities you can unlock in Dynasty Warriors: Origins:

  • Flying Kick
  • Elbow Strike
  • Flowing Form
  • Hurricane Kick
  • Maw of the Tiger
  • [Sp.] Ardent Energy Strike
  • Stone Strike Blast
  • Wrath of Earth
  • Heaven and Earth’s Wrath

Flying Kick

Dynasty Warriors Origins Gauntlets Battle Art Flying Kick

All Flying Kick features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Gauntlets
  • Bravery Cost: 1
  • Mastery Requirement: 200
  • Description: Unleash a forward jump kick. When you strike an enemy the momentum will carry you upward. Can also be performed in midair.

Flying Kick is a good early-game Battle Art ability for Gauntlets that can even provide a little crowd control. So long as you hit an enemy on your first kick, you’ll be carried forward into another. Additionally, you can hit more enemies with the kick as you move forward into them. You can chain up to three kicks in total.

Elbow Strike

Dynasty Warriors Origins Gauntlets Battle Art Elbow Strike

All Elbow Strike features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Gauntlets
  • Bravery Cost: 2
  • Mastery Requirement: 100
  • Description: Unleash an elbow strike. Can be performed rapidly.

Elbow Strike is a low-cost gap closer ability for the Gauntlets. It can be very useful in the early game, because of the gauntlet’s lack of range. However, it probably won’t be something you keep on your active skill bar for long.

Flowing Form

Dynasty Warriors Origins Gauntlets Battle Art Flowing Form

All Flowing Form features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Gauntlets
  • Bravery Cost: 2
  • Mastery Requirement: 100
  • Description: Focus your spirit. Enables to take stances more quickly for a set amount of time.

Although Flowing Form is a low-cost ability, you won’t be able to use it until you unlock it by raising the peace meter in Xu Province. Once high enough, inspect the waypoint at Zhao Yun to receive it. This ability won’t do damage but allows you to change stances more quickly.

Hurricane Kick

Dynasty Warriors Origins Gauntlets Battle Art Hurricane Kick

All Hurricane Kick features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Gauntlets
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 70
  • Description: Unleash a series of spinning kicks, catching surrounding enemies and sending them flying.

Hurricane Kick is a Gauntlet Battle Art ability with a moderate Bravery cost that you’ll want to add to your active skill bar. It does good damage in a radius around you, which makes it an effective AOE. Additionally, it allows you to move while the animation is active, so you can target groups of enemies.

Maw of the Tiger

Dynasty Warriors Origins Gauntlets Battle Art Maw of the Tiger

All Maw of the Tiger features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Gauntlets
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 70
  • Description: Take a counterattack stance. If attacked while in this stance, you will unleash an overwhelming wave of consecutive attacks.

Although this is not an interrupt ability, Maw of the Tiger can deal decent single-target damage. Be careful when using it against officers, because only a normal strike will trigger this effect.

[Sp.] Ardent Energy Strike

Dynasty Warriors Origins Gauntlets Battle Art Ardent Energy Strike

All Ardent Energy Strike features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Gauntlets
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 80
  • Description: Concentrate your Bravery to launch a shockwave. This Special can interrupt certain attacks and stagger the enemy.

This is an interrupt ability that is unique to gauntlets, but it has a slightly higher cost than the Power Shot ability you can unlock in the Expert Rank passive skill tree. However, if you don’t have access to that ability yet, then Ardent Energy Strike serves as a good placeholder.

Stone Strike Blast

Dynasty Warriors Origins Gauntlets Battle Art Stone Strike Blast

All Stone Strike Blast features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Gauntlets
  • Bravery Cost: 4
  • Mastery Requirement: 50
  • Description: Break apart the bedrock, causing debris to strike enemies within a large area in front of you and send them flying.

Stone Strike Blast is also a moderate-cost bravery battle art ability that deals damage in front of you. This ability is great for burst damage and has the added bonus of dealing a knock-back against your enemies.

Wrath of Earth

Dynasty Warriors Origins Gauntlets Battle Art Wrath of Earth

All Wrath of Earth features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Gauntlets
  • Bravery Cost: 6
  • Mastery Requirement: 35
  • Description: Slam the ground with all of your strength, releasing a shockwave in every direction that launches surrounding enemies into the air.

Wrath of Earth is another great burst damage ability, this time dealing area-of-effect damage in a full radius around you. It’s a high-cost ability, however, so you’ll want to be strategic using it when you can deal the most damage to multiple enemies around you.

Heaven and Earth’s Wrath

Dynasty Warriors Origins Gauntlets Battle Art Heaven and Earth's Wrath

All Heaven and Earth’s Wrath features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Gauntlets
  • Bravery Cost: 8
  • Mastery Requirement: 25
  • Description: Kick enemies upwards, immobilize them in midair, and then slam them into the ground. An extremely powerful attack.

The Heaven and Earth’s Wrath ability will do an incredible amount of damage, both to your main target and to any foes that happen to be in the damage radius. However, it will cost all of your Bravery to use this Battle Art. Therefore, be sure to slot a low-cost interrupt so that you can quickly build Bravery back up.

All Wheel Battle Art Abilities

All Wheels in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Wheels in Dynasty Warriors: Origins come in pairs and are hand-held circular blades that can be thrown to deal damage against enemies at mid-range. You will unlock them after the Suppression of You Province battle.

Here are all of the Wheel Weapon Battle Arts abilities you can unlock in Dynasty Warriors: Origins:

  • Relentless Rings
  • Crawling Dragon
  • Claw of the Predator
  • Harvest Moon
  • Triple Tempest
  • Flying Spirit Wave
  • [Sp.] Tornado Slam
  • Flying Lotus Gambit
  • Twin Tiger Blast

Relentless Rings

DWO Wheels Battle Art Relentless Rings

All Relentless Rings features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Wheels
  • Bravery Cost: 1
  • Mastery Requirement: 200
  • Description: Control your wheels as they fly through the air. The rapidly spinning wheels will viciously slice all surrounding enemies.

Relentless Rings is a nice early-game damage ability that can hit enemies in a full radius around you. This isn’t something that has been available so early on previous weapons and is a good starter Battle Art for Wheels.

Crawling Dragon

Dynasty Warriors Origins Wheels Battle Art Crawling Dragon

All Crawling Dragon features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Wheels
  • Bravery Cost: 2
  • Mastery Requirement: 100
  • Description: Throw your wheels upward. After a set amount of time, they will fall from above and greatly stagger the enemy.

The delay on Crawling Dragon before the ‘spirit blades’ of the wheels come down to hit your target will make this tricky to time correctly. However, it’s a low-cost ability and the real feature of it is the ability it has to stagger, rather than the damage it deals.

Claw of the Predator

DWO Wheels Battle Art Claw of the Predator

All Claw of the Predator features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Wheels
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 70
  • Description: Throw your wheels forward. They will come flying back while pulling in enemies.

The Claw of the Predator Battle Art is a good ability to use for crowd control. When you have high Bravery available, use this to pull enemies in towards you, and chain with another ability to take out multiple enemies.

Harvest Moon

Dynasty Warriors Origins Wheels Battle Art Harvest Moon

All Harvest Moon features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Wheels
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 70
  • Description: Throw your wheels forward. The wheels spin around for a set amount of time and do not automatically return, but can be recovered when nearby.

Harvest Moon is a Battle Art ability that requires you to let go of your weapons, and they spin around doing damage independently. If you have some distance from your enemies this might be a good way to deal damage before you’re in the midst of them, but letting go of your weapon while surrounded probably isn’t recommended

Triple Tempest

Dynasty Warriors Origins Wheels Battle Art Triple Tempest

All Triple Tempest features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Wheels
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 70
  • Description: Throw multiple wheels around you while spinning. Can strike enemies in all directions.

Triple Tempest is a solid area-of-effect ability that will not only damage enemies all around you but finish with a knock-back hit against those in front of you.

Flying Spirit Wave

DWO Wheels Battle Art Flying Spirit Wave

All Flying Spirit Wave features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Wheels
  • Bravery Cost: 4
  • Mastery Requirement: 50
  • Description: Throw a number of wheels one after another. Performing this move just as you recover a wheel increases the number of wheels thrown.

The effectiveness of the Flying Spirit Wave Battle Art ability will vary depending on your skill. Those who can execute it at the right moment after catching a returning wheel will increase the damage done. Furthermore, this is a good ability to use when fighting with an officer but pressed by other enemies on all sides. The thrown wheels will spiral out to deal AOE damage, and then fire forward directly into your main opponent.

[Sp.] Tornado Slam

DWO Wheels Battle Art Tornado Slam

All Tornado Slam features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Wheels
  • Bravery Cost: 4
  • Mastery Requirement: 60
  • Description: Use the wheels you’re holding to sweep at anything around you. This Special can interrupt certain attacks and stagger the enemy.

With a cost of 4 Bravery, the Tornado Slam ability is a little pricey for an interrupt. It does deal good damage, but you’re more at risk if you’re in need of an interrupt before you’ve rebuilt your Bravery.

Flying Lotus Gambit

DWO Wheels Battle Art Flying Lotus Gambit

All Flying Lotus Gambit features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Wheels
  • Bravery Cost: 6
  • Mastery Requirement: 35
  • Description: Throw a number of wheels one after another. All thrown wheels return to you.

Flying Lotus Gambit is a higher-cost Battle Art ability that sounds like it is more single-target, but the wheels can actually fly off to the side some for a bit of AOE. However, the wheels do not come near going around in a radius, so be aware of enemies at your flank.

Twin Tiger Blast

Dynasty Warriors Origins Wheels Battle Art Twin Tiger Blast

All Twin Tiger Blast features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Wheels
  • Bravery Cost: 8
  • Mastery Requirement: 25
  • Description: Throw your wheels forward, making them spin around to launch enemies into the air, and then strike airborne enemies with fire arrows, causing an explosion that sends them flying.

The Twin Tiger Blast ability is one of the game’s highest Bravery costs, but the highest damage abilities. You won’t unlock it until end game, but you’ll likely want to slot it for difficult battles against challenging officers. However, be aware that the ability can be interrupted, requiring precise timing.

All Podao Battle Art Abilities

All Podao in Dynasty Warriors Origins

The Padao in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a single-edged infantry weapon, with a large blade and longer hilt than a traditional sword. It can produce power attacks with a single blow, which can additionally be charged for even greater power.

  • Weapon Type: Podao
  • Bravery Cost: 2
  • Mastery Requirement:
  • Description: Perform a spin kick to launch enemies into the air and follow up with a podao slash. Will enable you to catch large swathes of enemies in your wake.

The Dragon Sweep Slash ability is a basic attack that allows you to swing the blade fully around and push away enemies in front of you. A good knock-back ability that can clear some area around you.

Fierce Focus

DWO Podao Battle Art Sharp Fierce Focus

All Fierce Focus features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Podao
  • Bravery Cost: 2
  • Mastery Requirement: 100
  • Description: Concentrate your Bravery to strengthen yourself. This will power up your charge attacks by one level.

The strength of the Padao weapon is the ability to charge your attacks, making powerful attacks hit even harder. Using the Fierce Focus ability will boost your charge attacks one level further. However, make sure to use this ability before heading into a crowd of enemies because otherwise you could get knocked out of it.

Bounding Earth Strike

Dynasty Warriors Origins Podao Battle Art Dragon Bounding Earth Strike

All Bounding Earth Strike features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Podao
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 70
  • Description: Step on an enemy to jump up and then slam your podao against the ground. The resulting shockwave will send enemies flying.

Bounding Earth Strike is a great battle art ability to slot if you want to increase your mobility on the battlefield. It works as a combination of gap-closer and knockback, so you can rush into an enemy and then toss a company of troops away.

Burgeoning Devastation

DWO Podao Battle Art Burgeoning Devastation

All Burgeoning Devastation features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Podao
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 70
  • Description: Move forward while making a sweeping attack with your podao. Continuing to press the button enables repeated attacks by using Bravery. The final strike will also be strengthened.

The Burgeoning Devastation battle art ability starts as a low-cost ability but can increase in both strength and cost if you are willing to consume more Bravery. Consider powering this ability up as a high-risk, high-reward tactical maneuver that can send multiple enemies flying.

Lingering Tempest Slash

Dynasty Warriors Origins Podao Battle Art Lingering Tempest Slash

All Lingering Tempest Slash features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Podao
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 70
  • Description: Perform a single slash to create a protective barrier of wind. Any enemy that touches it will be thrown back and staggered. Charging this move extends the wind’s duration.

The Lingering Tempest Slash ability provides a nice defensive feature with a protective wind barrier. Any enemy who touches it will be knocked back and will be staggered.

[Sp.] Sea of Flames

DWO Podao Battle Art Sea of Flames

All Sea of Flames features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Podao
  • Bravery Cost: 3
  • Mastery Requirement: 80
  • Description: Use your blade to generate flames through friction and then burn everything in front of you. This Special can interrupt certain attacks and stagger the enemy.

Sea of Flames is the interrupt battle art ability that you can unlock specifically for the padao. It provides good single target damage against an officer, and can also deal fire damage to other soldiers nearby.

Blade Typhoon

Dynasty Warriors Origins Podao Battle Art Blade Typhoon

All Blade Typhoon features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Podao
  • Bravery Cost: 4
  • Mastery Requirement:
  • Description: Deliver a powerful slash with your podao, generating a number of energy flares which strike enemies.

The Blade Typhoon ability has a moderate Bravery cost and will deal damage not only to the enemy right in front of you, but also to any soldiers farther back. It’s something like a delayed burst tool, where you have a first solid strike, but then the skill persists.

Sharp Fang Flurry

DWO Podao Battle Art Sharp Fang Flurry

All Sharp Fang Flurry features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Podao
  • Bravery Cost: 5
  • Mastery Requirement: 40
  • Description: Perform a flurry of forward slashes in a concentrated manner to form a powerful attack.

Sharp Fang Flurry is a strong single-target attack that is best used against officers and other challenging bosses. However, you’ll be vulnerable at the sides while this attack animation plays, so be careful of your flanks before triggering the ability.

Ardent Aura Slash

Dynasty Warriors Origins Podao Battle Art Sharp Ardent Aura Slash

All Ardent Aura Slash features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Podao
  • Bravery Cost: 7
  • Mastery Requirement: 30
  • Description: Infuse your Bravery into your poado and then unleash it. Charging the attack will increase its strength and range.

Finally, Ardent Aura Slash is the strongest padao battle art ability, and unleashing it will come at the cost of nearly all of your maximum Bravery. You can charge the attack twice for even more damage. However, there will be a pause while charging. Therefore, it’s best to strategically use this ability only against officers that you’ve been able to stagger first.

All Staff Battle Art Abilities

All Staff in Dynasty Warriors Origins

The staff in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is an incredibly strong, versatile weapon that allows you to make quick strikes against multiple enemies. You can spin a staff relentlessly, clearing out a space around you and forcing enemies to keep their distance.

  • Weapon Type: Staff
  • Bravery Cost: 1
  • Mastery Requirement: 200
  • Description: Leap up high by using your staff, catching enemies in front of you and launching them into the air.

Vaulting Leap is a low-cost Battle Art ability that will likely hit only a small handful of enemies right in front of you. However, your leap will also take you outside of melee range for a moment, and the action throws back the enemies hit.

Ruinous Wave

Dynasty Warriors Origins Staff Battle Art Ruinous Wave

All Ruinous Wave features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Staff
  • Bravery Cost: 2
  • Mastery Requirement: 100
  • Description: Perform a quick sweeping attack with your staff and send surrounding enemies flying.

Ruinous Wave is a much better early staff battle art to equip to your action bar in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Although it will not knock enemies away in a full 360 degree radius around you, it has a much wider fan of attack in front of you.

Shadow Step

Dynasty Warriors Origins Staff Battle Art Shadow Step

All Shadow Step features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Staff
  • Bravery Cost: 2
  • Mastery Requirement: 100
  • Description: Move at lightning speed for a thrust attack, quickly closing the distance between you and the enemy.

Brutal Barrage

Dynasty Warriors Origins Staff Battle Art Brutal Barrage

All Brutal Barrage features and mechanics:

  • Weapon Type: Staff
  • Bravery Cost: 3
