Weapons Traits in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, all weapons can have weapon traits, which are features that can boost attack power, Battle Art, Mosou Attacks, drops, and more. To view the traits on any weapon, open up your character screen and choose the Equipment tab. Then, select Weapon to see not only the weapon you have currently equipped but a list of all weapons in your inventory.
Additionally, when looking at that list you can see at a glance how many traits each weapon has. The number of diamonds listed underneath the weapon name corresponds to the number of traits it has. Furthermore, weapons can have up to six trait slots at maximum.
Moreover, all weapons sold in the Shop will have set traits that are static and predictable. They are the same for each weapon type at each weapon grade. However, the traits found on dropped weapons are random. Generally, in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, dropped weapons are more powerful and will have more traits.
Significantly, you cannot change the traits on your weapons until after you have beaten the game for the first time. After you have completed the main campaign, new features will unlock. This includes the ‘Reforge’ option, which will appear on the same screen as the Weapon Shop. There, you will have the option to change your weapon traits.
Trait Rarity in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Traits in Dynasty Warriors: Origins will occur in four different levels or rarities. These can be distinguished by their color and/or icon:
- Uncommon: Dark Grey color, with a single, faded diamond outline.
- Common: Pale grey or blue color, white double diamond outline.
- Rare: Red color, with a single diamond outline.

Reforging Weapon Traits in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The Reforging system in Dynasty Warriors: Origins allows you to change the traits on your weapon, however, you can only Reforge after beating the main campaign for the first time. After completing the game once, on a second playthrough, the Reforge option will be available to you. You can find it on the same screen as the Weapons Shop.
Next, after clicking on Reforge, you will see a list of all your available weapons. Choose the weapon you wish to modify, then select ‘Reforge Traits’.
Then, the next screen will show you the weapon you are reforging traits to on the far right. On the left is a list of all the weapons of the exact same name. In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, weapon traits can only be exchanged between weapons of the exact same type and grade.
From this list, choose the weapon with a trait you wish to reforge. Once selected, you will be able to go down the list of traits and choose the one you wish to put on your main weapon. You can only take reforge one trait per weapon! Furthermore, the process of reforging will destroy the weapon you take the trait from, so choose carefully.
Once you have selected the trait you wish to change, the UI will show that trait moved over to your main weapon. You can choose which trait slot to put the reforged trait onto. Again, choose carefully because you will lose that original trait.
Finally, once you have selected a slot, the new trait will be placed on your main weapon. The secondary weapon will be destroyed and the old trait will be removed.
