As of writing this article, there is no official way of playing Operations solo in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2. When you launch Operations, you will always be paired with other online players. Although you can play Operations offline, doing so won’t save your progress or unlocks. Furthermore, the balancing of Operations doesn’t change for solo gameplay. The mode is meant to be played in co-op.

Thankfully, developer Saber Interactive has confirmed “Private Lobbies” as one of the priority features for Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2’s post-launch support. With Private Lobbies, players will be able to play and enjoy Operations with bots, without being forced to pair up with other players.

How to Play Operations Solo in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Using the Offline Glitch

While there’s no official single-player mode for Operations in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, there’s a way to play the mode offline using a simple glitch. To play Operations solo, suspend the game while at the central hub (do not go into the menus). Keep the application suspended for at least 10 minutes so the servers time out.

The best way to consistently time out the servers in Space Marine 2 is to put your console or PC to sleep (or Rest mode). After 10-15 minutes, head back into the game and you should get a pop notification stating – Connection Lost. After the Connection Lost error, select Continue (Offline) and launch the Operations.

If done correctly, the game will allow you to jump into Operations with two NPC Marines as co-op members, akin to the story missions. However, this method does not give consistent results, often ending up in “Connection Error”, which boots you out of the missions. Furthermore, if you do continue playing in Offline Mode, there’s a chance that your progress might not synchronize.

Currently, the best way to enjoy Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 in single-player is to stick with the main story missions. You can still play Operations, but it’s best to do so with a group of friends, until Saber Interactive adds the option for Private Lobbies.

What are Operations in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2?

Operations in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 are extremely engaging. They aren’t tied directly to the single-player campaign missions, but they do add more context to the overall narrative of the game and the side characters.

Operations are a subset of missions that are accessible via the Battle Map once you reach the central hub. The Operation missions are essentially side stories that serve as part of Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2’s PvE modes. They are a set of six extraction-based missions that see players work together with their friends or other online players in co-op. The goal is to eliminate hordes of Tyranids, complete specific objectives, and fight powerful bosses before exfiltrating.

These are the six Operation missions in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2:

  • Ballistic Engine
  • Inferno
  • Decapitation
  • Vox Liberatis
  • Reliquary
  • Fall of Atreus

Playing Operations requires you to be connected to the internet, so you can register and save progress across sessions. The missions are connected to the main storyline, but the focus is primarily co-op gameplay.

Operations offers players the best way to test out their custom Space Marine build before heading to PvP. In Operation missions, players aren’t given control of Titus. Instead, players are free to pick a custom character from the six different classes, which they can also carry over to the PvP modes.

It’s not necessary to complete the Operations to fully enjoy the main story of Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2. But, players should still try out the mode in between the main story missions. Operations grant their own set of unique rewards, including exclusive cosmetics and weapon upgrades.
