The Naruto series has given the anime fanbase some of the most entertaining moments. There are plenty of factors that account for the entertainment value that the animanga series offers. However, one of the reasons for this series’s success is due to the villains. Kishimoto has a knack for writing entertaining villains. Each one is unique in their own way, and their fighting styles differ drastically as well. It’s difficult to have a conversation about villains without bringing up Deidara. He is one of the most entertaining villains in the Naruto series, and there are plenty of reasons for it.

Fans knew that Deidara was strong even before he displayed it. This is because he was a part of the infamous Akatsuki. This was arguably the most nefarious organization in the entire Naruto series. Its members were strong enough to literally cause the Fourth Great Ninja War. The likes of Itachi Uchiha and Obito were a part of this team. Deidara’s unique jutsu style lent itself very well to the anime. Let’s take a closer look at Deidara as a character to understand what makes it so enjoyable to watch him on screen.

Deidara’s Personality in the Naruto Series

One look at Deidara, and you know he is evil through and through. He has a rather relaxed demeanor for the most part. However, that changes at times when he’s under a lot of pressure. He had two partners during his time in the Naruto series. Sasori was his first partner, but he died fighting Sakura and Chiyo. Soon after, Deidara partnered up with Tobi. The villain had a very relaxed demeanor for the most part. However, that changed when he was forced to deal with Tobi’s childish antics.

Fans also loved Deidara because of his views on people in general. For example, there was a time when Deidara called Gaara noble for moving all the sand to Sunagakure before passing out. Despite being a villain, he seems to have a sense of what is honorable and what isn’t. Fans seem to enjoy the irony in his approach. There are several such instances in the Naruto anime and manga series that indicate this.

Additionally, most villains in the series were victims of circumstances or had compelling reasons for their actions. Deidara, on the other hand, does not. He is evil because that’s just how he is as a person. He enjoys killing people in the most brutal manner possible, and this is quite different from how most villains in Naruto are portrayed.

Deidara’s Fighting Style in the Naruto Series

Deidara has an interesting fighting style. Most fighters in this animanga series have flashy moves because of ninjutsu as a whole. However, Deidara is quite entertaining because the explosion is the basis of his attacks in this animanga series. He absolutely loves explosions, and this caters to a massive audience. After all, who doesn’t love a maniacal villain constantly blowing things up all the time?

Deidara’s killing methods can be quite brutal, and it isn’t particularly shonen. However, fans love that the series features darker characters like him. In fact, he believes that explosions have an artistic quality to them. This is why viewers love watching him on screen. He had an explosion Kekkei Genkai, which was quite unique. Deidara could create and mould clay that would explode upon detonation. He could also create clones with the aforementioned clay, which again could explode upon detonation.

This is quite versatile on the battlefield. He can use tiny clay objects for a controlled explosion and massive ones for explosions that are needed to kill shinobi. The fact that he caught Anbu members off guard highlights his stealth abilities. However, it’s hard for him to continue staying this way, given his obsession with explosions on a massive scale.

Deidara’s Obsession With Art

Deidara was a unique character because of his interest in art. He constantly views the world through those lenses. This is also why he considers explosions art. Furthermore, the character seems to have connected violence to art, which is why he takes joy in killing people. This is observed in the way he fights and the manner in which he converses with people. Furthermore, he attaches a portion of divinity to art. This is also why he thought Itachi was a god when he saw him against a bright background.

Itachi and Deidara fought against each other. However, this was barely a fight since Deidara was defeated almost instantly. It was at the end of the battle that Itachi stood against the brilliant, bright golden background. Deidara witnessed some form of divinity, and he called it art. Therefore, there is a strong correlation between art and divinity in Deidara’s mind.

Deidara’s Dynamics With Tobi

This is arguably one of the biggest reasons why fans love Deidara in the Naruto series. He is quite funny, and he always seems irritated when he is around Tobi. This interaction provides a decent amount of comedic relief. The series is set in a world where wars and death are constant. Therefore, every humorous interaction that takes place is appreciated in the series.

One of the most iconic moments involved the two characters stopping for dumplings while they were on a mission. There was a pig-shaped clay object that resembled Deidara’s clay bombs. Tobi proposed the idea that Deidara’s art might not be original and decided to run away after teasing him. Deidara used plenty of clay bombs on Tobi because of how annoying he is. Furthermore, there came a point where Deidara choked Tobi with his legs and nearly put him to sleep. Seeing their antics on screen makes Deidara one of the most popular Akatsuki members in the Naruto series.

Conclusion

Deidara’s combination of humor, fighting style, and his dynamics with his teammates make him incredibly interesting. There is no doubt that there are villains who are far more layered and complex. However, if you are someone who appreciates a villain who just loves explosions and being evil, then Deidara is the character for you.
