Discover every fight that takes place in Demon Slayer’s Infinity Castle Arc. Explore where they rank amongst each other as well.

As one of the most popular new-gen anime and manga series, Demon Slayer has captivated viewers through its unique perspective on a world plagued by demons and the heroes who face them. Throughout several arcs, we follow the protagonist, Tanjiro, and his allies as they gain enough strength to help in the efforts to vanquish the demons.
They fight alongside the heroic Demon Slayer Corps and the best among the group—the Hashira. Hence, the story has never failed to engage us through its cast of distinctive characters, exhilarating fights, and emotional storytelling.
The Infinity Castle Arc is the best showcase of this, combining all the themes the series had built up until that point. By focusing on the main characters facing the strongest of Muzan’s forces, the series emphasizes the high stakes while setting up the battle against the main villain.

With the movie trilogy announced to adapt this epic arc, fans may wonder what the best fights it features are. Here is every fight that occurs in Demon Slayer’s Infinity Castle Arc, ranked.
Please note that the final battle between all the Demon Slayers and Muzan takes place in the Sunrise Countdown Arc. As a result, it will not be featured in this list.
6) Mitsuri and Obanai vs Nakime

Mitsuri and Obanai’s battle against Nakime was far from a conventional battle, often taking place in the background. Nevertheless, while it may not be very memorable compared to the other fights in this arc, it holds its own importance.
As the new Upper Rank Four Demon, Nakime manipulated the Infinity Castle through her spatial powers. To stop her from controlling the battlefield, Mitsuri and Obanai launched an attack. Unfortunately, despite their relentless efforts, they struggled to get close to the demon.
This continued to the very end, resulting in the Hashira being extremely exhausted due to them constantly adapting to their shifting environment. Thankfully, Yushiro stepped in, controlling Nakime and the Infinity Castle through visions. This pushed Muzan into open grounds, soon after which the demon king killed Nakime himself.
5) Shinobu vs Doma

While Shinobu’s fight against Doma was very short, it was extremely heartbreaking and immensely significant. This was a battle filled with emotions since the Insect Hashira, Shinobu, had an intense hatred for the Upper Rank Two Demon, Doma, for killing her sister.
Despite using agile techniques with her Insect Breathing, Shinobu was unable to gain the upper hand against Doma. The antagonist, through his ice-based attacks and supreme regeneration, left Shinobu without an answer. In addition, the typical poison she used was not effective against this demon.

Consequently, Doma eventually wore Shinobu down before absorbing her. This marked her death, a moment that shocked all her allies. However, in a twist that no one saw coming, Shinobu later revealed how it was her plan to get absorbed. Expecting her battle against Doma, she had consumed 37 kg of wisteria poison, which would be fatal to the strongest of demons.
Hence, when she was absorbed by him, he was inflicted by its toxicity from the inside. This sets up Kanao and Inosuke’s subsequent battle against his weakened form.
4) Zenitsu vs Kaigaku

While most figures in the Infinity Castle Arc struggled during their battle, Zenitsu’s fight against Kaigaku was the exact opposite. The new Upper Rank Six Demon, Kaigaku, used to be Zenitsu’s senior disciple, trained under the same mentor.
Unfortunately, his lust for power made him switch to Muzan’s side. His conversion to a demon causes great disgrace to Zenitsu’s master, Jigoro, causing him to commit seppuku. Juggling these complex feelings, a focused Zenitsu prepared for his battle against the demon.

Despite being taunted for only learning the Thunder Breathing technique’s first form and facing various attacks from Kaigaku, Zenitsu never wavered. In one of the most satisfying scenes of the series, he unveiled his new style, the Seventh Form: Honoikazuchi no Kami.
Using this, Zenitsu rapidly beheaded his former senior through a flawless attack. This ended the battle before anyone could comprehend what happened, with Zenitsu having avenged his master.
3) Kanao and Inosuke vs Doma

Following Shinobu’s death, Kanao and Inosuke stepped up to the plate to face Doma. While they attacked through a combination of Flower Breathing and Beast Breathing, they were unable to face Doma’s ice powers and clones. In addition to this, their personal stakes significantly raised the excitement of the battle.
Kanao had witnessed Shinobu’s passing, and Doma revealed that he was also responsible for the death of Inosuke’s mother. While the battle was still one-sided and the demon was clearly overconfident, the effects of Shinobu’s poison became apparent.

It began melting him, causing him to lose control over his powers and regeneration. Taking advantage of this, Kanao executed her final attack—Equinoctial Vermilion Eye. This pushed the blade through the demon’s neck, assisted by Inosuke’s Beast Breathing: Sudden Throwing Strike.
Through their combined efforts, Doma was finally killed. Both Demon Slayers got their resolution for the losses of their loved ones as well.
2) Gyomei, Muichiro, Sanemi and Genya vs Kokushibo

The battle between the Demon Slayers and the Upper Rank One Demon, Kokushibo, was a highly awaited confrontation, and it didn’t disappoint. Recognizing the prowess of their opponent, Gyomei, Muichiro, Sanemi, and Genya worked together to bring him down.
Despite using speed, brute strength, and a combination of short- and long-ranged attacks, however, they faced a losing battle. Kokushibo dominated his opponents using his Moon Breathing, though they remained defiant, awakening their Demon Slayer Marks.
However, due to Kokushibo’s near-invincible nature, the heroes realized that they cannot win without sacrifices. At the cost of Muichiro and Genya’s deaths after putting up valiant fights, Gyomei took advantage of his enemy’s distraction. He brutally beheaded him, but this didn’t signal the end.

Following the touching backstory of Kokushibo and Yoriichi, the demon turned into a monstrous form due to his desire to survive and attain more power. While Gyomei and Sanemi, the only remaining Hashira, kept pushing on, Kokushibo saw the reflection of his own form.
Disgusted by what he had turned into due to his selfishness for power, he mentally resigned himself. This allowed the Demon Slayers to land one more decisive strike, causing the regretful demon to pass away.
1) Tanjiro and Giyu vs Akaza

Most fans believe that Tanjiro and Giyu’s fight against Akaza is the most emotionally charged sequence in the series. While readers hated Akaza until that point, this battle completely changed their perception.
As the protagonist and his ally used Hinokami Kagura and Water Breathing against the Upper Rank Three Demon, Akaza impressed fans with his resilience and martial arts. Despite Giyu awakening his Demon Slayer Mark, he failed to make a significant impact. Weighed by his own guilt, this Hashira was also in a state of shock for the majority of the fight.
Tanjiro, on the other hand, went through a great transformation. Through his intense focus, he accessed Transparent World, enhancing his senses and decapitating Akaza with a Hinokami Kagura: Setting Sun Transformation.

Stunningly, this wasn’t the end. Akaza was actively recovering even after losing his head. The Demon Slayers, who were exhausted at this point, struggled to recover and face their enemy. However, at this point, fans experience the heartbreaking backstory of Akaza.
Having been saved by his master and finding love in the past as a human, the demon had lost them all in a tragic incident. Due to his mental turmoil, he was recruited by Muzan and turned into a demon. Nevertheless, when desperately trying to recover his head, he received visions of his loved ones. Hence, after remembering his time as a human, Akaza gained self-acceptance and decided to fade away.
