Patch 7 introduces a new in-game Mod Manager that allows players to browse and install mods in Baldur’s Gate 3.
After months of waiting, Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 has gone live and is now available for download. With the patch comes several changes, including new endings and performance fixes. However, what has caught the eye of most players is how the modding system has changed in Baldur’s Gate 3 after the patch.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Manager
Patch 7 introduces a new Mod Manager that makes for a smooth and integrated modding experience for players. Using the in-game Mod Manager, players can create and install mods. The integration allows them to install mods without ever alt-tabbing out of the game and opening up a browser. The new Mod Manager opens up a window with two tabs, “Browse” and “Installed”.
The “Browse” window presents players with a wide selection of mods. Players can search for specific mods or browse through the list with general filters, such as “Most Downloaded”, or specific filters that affect Class, UI, or Character Customization. The “Installed’ tab shows the mods already installed in the game.
“Mods that are created and uploaded via our Toolkit can be browsed and installed directly from the game itself,” Larian Studios said in the latest patch notes.
Baldur’s Gate 3 ToolKit
Another modding tool included in Patch 7 is the ToolKit. It allows players to create mods that specifically cater to Baldur’s Gate 3. Modders will be able to publish their creations using the ToolKit itself.
The game will also now “officially support” scripted mods using Osiris, Larian’s in-house scripting language, thus enabling modders to “reload their own scripts, handle build errors, and also carry out basic debugging.”
Other Changes Coming With Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7
The introduction of “Evil Endings” in the latest update has the community excited. Patch 7 has added 13 new cinematic endings for players who want to experience a truly villainous playthrough.
Split-screen gameplay has also been tweaked. Split screens will now merge when players are nearby to reduce screen clutter and chaos.
The Honor Mode combat is now slightly different. UI changes, performance upgrades, and bug fixes were also included in the patch.
