Mob Psycho 100 is an incredible show that has layered messages that teach us wonderful life lessons. At first glance, one might assume that the series is only lighthearted and focuses on comedy. This is a web manga series that was created by ONE, the same individual who created the One Punch Man series. While the latter is popular, many regard this as the better of the two titles.

The character writing for Shigeo Kageyama is remarkable. He is incredibly complex and often undergoes the very problems that many of us go through on a daily basis. In a way, he is a reflection of the state of adolescence, and the anime captures it beautifully, to say the least. The anime adaptation has concluded with a total of three seasons.

Netizens have discussed the ending of the series on numerous platforms, owing to the nature of the conclusion. If we analyze the ending of Mob Psycho 100, we can see that Shigeo Kageyama fully accepts himself. He struggled with self-acceptance, and his former swindler for a master finally came through when he needed him the most.

We can see a massive tornado that was caused by Shigeo. His psychic powers were activated, and he lost control. In the mental space, there were two entities. One was Shigeo, and the other entity was the version of him that had massive powers. Shigeo didn’t really accept that side of him because he was afraid of what people would think if they saw his complete powers. There was a lot of conflict between these two entities.

The other entity was the physical manifestation of all the anger and frustration that he repressed for years on end. In season 2, episode 7, Shigeo said that Reigen was a good man. However, there was a part of him that didn’t accept Reigen because he didn’t outright confess to Shigeo about his lack of psychic powers. In season 3, however, Reigen put his life on the line just to tell Shigeo that he had no psychic powers. He showed his true colors, as a master should have. Shigeo Kageyama as well as the part of him he didn’t accept were moved by this.

He accepted the side of him that was powerful and dangerous. Finally, we saw Shigeo Kageyama reach 100%, which was an indication that he accepted himself for who he was. While Tsubomi rejected him, he continued to live a full life. He had a healthy relationship with his brother, his friends, and most importantly, with Reigen. This is how Mob Psycho 100 ended in the third season.

Shigeo’s master, Reigen Arataka, might have wondered how his relationship with Mob would change after that conversation. When he revealed his true colors, it only brought Mob closer to him. His friends adjourned at his office and they surprised him on his birthday. He nearly cried because the response overwhelmed him. Despite failing for the most part of his life, he made genuine connections and developed good friendships.

Serizawa also seemed more confident in his stride. He was also present in the Spirits and Such Consultation Office to surprise Reigen Arataka. All characters in the series exhibited substantial growth over the course of the series.

With this in mind, a sequel isn’t particularly necessary.

However, fans will be pleased to know that a sequel series already exists. It’s called Reigen: The Man With a MAX Spirituality Level of 131. It focuses on Reigen, Serizawa, and Tome, who work together at Spirits and Such Consultation Office. Mob has little to no screen time in the spin-off.
