NBA 2K25 suffered a server crash soon after its early access launch. Here’s everything you need to know about what happened.
NBA 2K25 will be globally released on September 6, 2024, but it’s already available to players who pre-ordered it. The game was released in early access on September 4, 2024, at 5 AM (PT). You can play NBA 2K25 on multiple different platforms, including PC (via Steam), PlayStation (PS4 and PS5), Xbox (Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S), and even the Nintendo Switch. However, for a short time after the early access launch, the game wasn’t accessible to many players across multiple platforms.
NBA 2K25 Servers Crashed
On September 4, 2024, the NBA 2K25 servers crashed less than three minutes after its early access launch. Now, you need access to 2K’s servers in order to play online, and several of the game’s more enjoyable features are multiplayer-only. As such, the crash meant that countless players were left frustrated, trying to figure out what’s wrong with their game.
This crash was most likely caused by the massive surge in traffic that usually follows a new and highly anticipated game’s release. Most multiplayer games face some server issues during their lifetime, but a server crash during launch can prove to be highly problematic. Thankfully, the servers were back up and running after about 30 minutes.
