NBA 2K25 adds 72 Takeovers and 14 Takeover Abilities to choose from when creating a new MyPLAYER. The Takeover system in NBA 2K allows your player to enhance their attributes during a game. This feature is gradual, and is only acquired after you perform well consistently. Naturally, all your actions in court will be made easier, from dunks to defense and more.

There are five different levels to the Takeover Ability, and you need to play multiple games to max this out. So, here’s how you can do so.

You’ll notice a Takeover Meter on the top-right corner of the screen in NBA 2K25’s MyCAREER mode. This fills up as you perform well on the court, progressively increasing the targeted attributes as you advance through the five levels. It is not necessary for you to manually activate Takeover as this occurs automatically. Nevertheless, your Takeover Meter will decrease if you commit errors and execute poor plays on the court.

Now, to fully activate and enable your Takeover Ability, you need to fill up your Takeover Meter to five levels. Your stats will benefit from an increased boost each time this level up happens. When you reach Level 5, your Takeover Ability will turn on by itself. As revealed by 2K in their MyPLAYER Courtside Report, you’ll be able to respec your takeover in between games.
