Pokemon GO is a game that has a significant amount of multiplayer scope, especially with Raids and PvP battles. As such, you will need to add other players as friends to be able to play with them (or against them). This is where the Trainer Code in Pokemon GO comes into the picture.

Trainer Codes will allow you to connect with other players and add them as friends. This article explains what Pokemon GO Trainer Codes are, where you can find them, and how you can change them if needed.

The Trainer Code in Pokemon GO is like a unique identification number that others can use to add you as a friend. You can get your Trainer Code in two types in Pokemon GO – either as a QR code or as a 12-digit number. You will also be able to change your Trainer Code at any time for whatever reason.

It should be noted that your Trainer Code is not related to the security of your Pokemon GO account. As such, sharing it freely does not put your account at risk in any way.

Where to Find Your Pokemon GO Trainer Code

Here are the steps to find your Trainer Code in Pokemon GO:

  • On the lower-left corner of the screen, tap on your avatar.
  • Select the “Add Friend” option from the page that opens.
  • You will be able to see your Trainer Code here on the screen.

You will be able to see both the QR code and the 12-digit numerical Trainer Code here. If someone wants to add you, any of these two methods will work. Generally, players close to each other can benefit from the QR code since scanning is a very easy process. However, for Remote Raids and long-distance friends, the 12-digit code is the only way to go.

You will also be able to change your Trainer Code in Pokemon GO if you want to. This is usually done when many people start sending friend requests to you at the same time, filling up your pending requests queue. Pokemon GO only allows a maximum of 200 pending friend requests at a given time.

Follow these steps to change your Trainer Code in Pokemon GO:

  • Tap on your avatar at the lower-left corner of the screen.
  • Go to the “Add Friend” section from here.
  • You will be able to see the “refresh” icon at the far right side of your 12-digit numerical Trainer Code. Tap on this section.
  • A confirmation window will pop up, where you must select the “Change My Code” option.

A new Trainer Code does not affect your already existing friends in Pokemon GO. However, your old QR code and numerical code will not work anymore, and you need to provide the new one to anyone who wants to add you as a friend.
