The Boruto manga has progressed considerably, especially after the release of Two Blue Vortex. There was a time skip before this and every shinobi has gotten stronger. The protagonist has shown a substantial amount of growth.

In fact, he has surpassed the likes of Sasuke in his prime, which is a huge testament to his strength. The series has continued to introduce newer antagonists and techniques.

There is one technique in particular that caught the fanbase’s attention. The technique in question is called Omnipotence. Readers who haven’t caught up to the manga have wondered—what is the Omnipotence in Boruto?

The Omnipotence is a form of Shinjutsu or Divine Technique that is accessible to the Otsutsuki Clan. Eida used Omnipotence before the commencement of the Two Blue Vortex manga chapters. This was an important plot point as it altered the course of the manga series.

The Effects of Omnipotence

As mentioned earlier, Eida used this technique towards the latter stages of the Naruto Next Generations manga. This technique has an interesting effect on the user’s desires. Anyone with this technique in their arsenal has the ability to materialize their desires. This technique in the Boruto manga can quite literally turn the user’s desires into reality. As per the lore, the Otsutsuki Clan used this technique to create worlds.

This ability allowed the users to think of an ideal world and go on to create it. It materializes the desires of the user by quite literally altering reality. Eida, who is a humanoid created by Amado, managed to use this and rewrite the memories of the villagers. It’s interesting to see that Eida inherited this power despite not being an Otsutsuki. This happened because Amado used Shibai Otsutsuki’s genes to control her.

Eida is unable to use this skill as and when she wants. She cannot control the technique fully. She was only able to use it instinctively, and the technique activated when she had a strong desire to help Kawaki.

What Eida Did With Omnipotence

As mentioned earlier, Eida was the first character in the series to showcase a Shinjutsu technique. She used it moments before the time skip began. At that point, Kawaki went to Naruto’s house to confront and reveal his plans. He told the Seventh Hokage that he’d kill his son to put an end to Momoshiki’s stunts. However, Naruto is not okay with this since he is the protagonist’s father. In fact, Hinata slapped Kawaki for saying this out loud.

Following this, Kawaki sealed Naruto and Hinata in Daikokuten—a dimension where time doesn’t flow. Since Naruto and Hinata’s chakra signatures vanished, the entire village assumed that Kawaki killed them. Konoha launched a manhunt to nab Kawaki. That’s when he came across Eida and asked her for help. He knew that Eida was romantically interested in him, and Kawaki decided to use that. This is when Eida used her Omnipotence instinctively.

The Omnipotence quite literally altered the memories of everyone in the village. It switched Kawaki and Boruto’s places in the minds of the villagers. Following that, the entire village attempted to hunt down Boruto, who was innocent at that time. However, he managed to escape with Sasuke and didn’t return to Konohagakure for the next three years.

Immunity To Omnipotence in Boruto

Fans will be interested to know that the Shinjutsu isn’t 100 percent effective. Eida managed to do the impossible. Her powers allowed her to manipulate the memories of an entire village. This is no easy feat. However, there were certain people who were immune to the effects of the Omnipotence.

The only ones who were immune to the Omnipotence were Sumire Kakei and Sarada Uchiha. Eida was romantically interested in Boruto and Kawaki, but she chose to help the latter. This led to Boruto being stuck in a terrible situation, forcing him to flee the village.

The reason for the immunity has not been revealed in the manga. That being said, there are theories that explain the possible reasons. Both Sumire and Sarada have romantic feelings for Boruto. Eida’s technique put Boruto in danger. One can look at Sarada and Sumire as Eida’s romantic rivals in the manga.

Sarada and Sumire’s strong romantic feelings for the protagonist could be key to their immunity to this technique. But, the manga has yet to deliberate on how one can develop immunity to Omnipotence.

Is There a Counter to Omnipotence?

In this case, the Omnipotence altered the memories of the people in the village. There were a couple of characters who managed to counter the effects of Omnipotence. Kashin Koji managed to do so using a Divine Technique. It’s called Ten Directions, and it allows him to look into all possible futures. Since Kawaki was Naruto’s son in the current reality, he realized that his memories were tampered with.

This was one way to counter the effects of the Omnipotence. Another method was to focus on the initial contradictions, which in turn restores a certain degree of the original memories. Sasuke avoided the prolonged effect of Omnipotence in this manner. Amado Sanzu also countered the effects by observing the inconsistencies in his memory.

Is Omnipotence the Strongest Technique in Boruto?

There is no evidence to state that Omnipotence is the strongest power to ever exist in the series. However, Momoshiki believes that Omnipotence is the strongest ability. Given Shibai’s existence, the anime series could potentially introduce another technique that might outshine this Shinjutsu. That being said, Omnipotence is quite versatile as it quite literally alters reality in order to cater to the user’s strong desires.

Conclusion

Omnipotence is an intriguing technique that is shrouded in mystery. Masashi Kishimoto has not revelaed the technique’s origins, its limitations, and the extent of its powers. Currently, we’re seeing a weaker version of this since Eida cannot control it fully. It will be interesting to see how a full-fledged Otsutsuki can use this technique while having absolute control and mastery over it.
