Who Is Chojuro in Naruto?

During his introduction, Chojuro was a shy and meek boy who acted as a bodyguard to the fifth Mizukage, Mei Terumi. Despite his young age, he was immensely talented, being accepted into the ranks of the Kirigakure’s Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, which Zabuza had been notoriously part of.

Chojuro might be reserved, but he was also extremely dedicated to Mei. He had seen her as a ray of shining light and gradually built up his confidence for the sake of being useful. Due to this, he proceeded to have standout moments in Naruto.

Chojuro’s Memorable Moments in Naruto

  •  Five Kage Summit

In his first appearance during the summit, Chojuro shared a very close relationship with the Mizukage. He rushed to defend her against any possible danger, even against the likes of the Raikage.

During Sasuke’s intrusion, Chojuro was one of the first to face him and skillfully pushed him off into a separate space where the Mizukage could face him. Later, when Ao was controlled by Fu Yamanaka, Chojuro’s sword had the ability to drive him out.

  • Fourth Shinobi World War

Soon after the Shinobi Alliance had been created, Chojuro and other guards of the Daimyo ran into Black Zetsu. Following an intense battle, Chojuro was able to take advantage of a distraction provided by Naruto’s clones, slashing through Zetsu. This helped him to neutralize the threat and hold that point, allowing Mei to go fight reincarnated Madara.

Through this battle, Chojuro emphasized his honor as a member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, showcasing his reliability to the Mizukage. This pushed her to trust him and appreciate his development.

Following this, Chojuro was also caught up in the Infinite Tsukuyomi and later freed due to the main characters’ efforts.

Chojuro’s Strengths and Abilities

Despite not having reached the age of 20, Chojuro was an immensely talented and powerful character in Naruto. He wielded the mystical sword Hiramekarei, a unique weapon that can store chakra and can be shaped according to the user’s will.

Chojuro used this ingeniously, turning it into a hammer to attack Sasuke, drastically increasing its size and also splitting it into two blades. Hence, his place among the great swordsmen of the Kirigakure was well-earned.

Additionally, Chojuro can also use the water-release nature transformation, creating weapons from water bodies near him. His abilities pair well with his tactical acumen, where he can rapidly analyze battles and adapt to challenging scenarios.

Chojuro’s Role in Boruto

Chojuro’s efforts have finally borne fruit in Boruto as he has become the sixth Mizukage in the series. He works hard to ensure the peace of all those under him, struggling to find the balance of happiness between the ever-changing world and old traditions.

He helps train the newer generation through joint training with Konoha while also protecting them from enemies. His valor is fully displayed in his battle against Urashiki Otsutsuki, where he tries to subdue the target. While this attempt failed, he later captured Kinshiki Otsutsuki after being transported to the other dimension.

Chojuro remains relevant in the Kage Summits, assessing information and giving input to face the enemies threatening the world.

Conclusion

Chojuro’s journey from a timid bodyguard to the Sixth Mizukage is a testament to his resilience, loyalty and dedication. He may not be in the spotlight much, but has contributed in areas no one else could have. His mastery over his weapon and unwavering commitment to his village solidify his position as a very under-appreciated character.
