Ever since Dorry and Broggy’s encounter, fans have anticipated the crew’s journey to the land of giants. Usopp has also mentioned on multiple occasions that he admired their warrior spirit and would love to visit.
The Straw Hats finally get the opportunity for this at the end of the Egghead Island Arc. After defeating the Marines and the World Government officials, Luffy and the Straw Hats end up traveling with the Giant Pirates who helped them. After a night of heavy partying, the crew woke up to find that they had been split from each other. To make matters worse, they were surrounded by giants.
Hence, while the exact events of their arrival at Elbaph remain unclear, the crew are all currently present there. Since Luffy often goes with the flow, he decides to make the most of this new adventure.
While being in Elbaph might have been coincidental, fans theorize that this could be one of the most crucial arcs in One Piece. Since Elbaph is a legendary land with traces of the ancient past, it could be home to the final Road Poneglyph the Straw Hats need. Additionally, since Loki calls himself the Sun God, which is the power Luffy’s Devil Fruit has, we might get the origin behind Nika and Joy Boy.
Loki’s Abilities and Powers
Loki is noted to be one of the finest warriors in Elbaph and has a bounty of 2.6 billion berries. Though he is imprisoned, it was mentioned that it took the effort of multiple powerful giants to finally restrain him.
While he might not be liked by most, Loki still holds influence among dedicated followers in Elbaph. Additionally, despite being chained, he could easily dodge Luffy’s Gear Fourth attack. The exact details of their fight are not revealed, but Loki and Shanks had faced each other in the past.
Shanks seems to have come out with a better ending since Loki holds resentment towards him, but being capable of facing him already places Loki among the strongest in the series. Along with all the impressive traits mentioned, the character has a mysterious Devil Fruit that he was willing to kill his father for.
Significance of Loki in One Piece
Loki is the first significant narrative point in the land of Elbaph once the Straw Hats arrive. As a prince, he represents the culture of the giants, their warrior spirit, and their ties with the outside world.
He also serves as a figure whose motivations we are unsure of. Similar to the Loki of mythology, this character could sway either way depending on the situation. Since he is believed to be connected to Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, we are sure this will only make him a more formidable character as time passes.
