Chainsaw Man takes us across a dark world filled with devils created from humanity’s fears. As we follow Denji’s adventures, we encounter all kinds of devils, from primal fears striking at the core of our existence to nuanced terrors affecting everyday life. In these lines, fans got to meet the Aging Devil in Chainsaw Man Part 2. So, who is the Aging Devil in Chainsaw Man?

The Aging Devil is the main antagonist of the current arc of the Chainsaw Man manga, embodying the fear of aging. Let us take a closer look at this figure.

Who Is the Aging Devil in Chainsaw Man?

Born in Hell, the Aging Devil is a Primal Fear along with the Darkness, Falling, and Death Devils. It represents humanity’s fear of aging, especially the decline of their physical and mental capabilities. This devil is extremely formidable since its conception is based on an existential dread every person has.

It is not very expressive in general, showing no blatant bias against humans and devils. It was contracted by Public Safety to be eaten by Chainsaw Man so that the concept of aging could be erased and high officials of the country could go on living.

While the Aging Devil seemed to have no qualms with this, its hate for youthfulness made it demand the deaths of 10,000 children between infancy and nine years old in exchange. Hence, for the sake of letting humans live longer and reach a new point of existence, it was willing to sacrifice itself.

Additionally, the Aging Devil is also one of the oldest devils in Chainsaw Man, with its age rivaling humanity’s existence itself.

While the current arc is yet to receive an official name, the Aging Devil is its main antagonist. As we have seen earlier, it was tasked by Public Safety and the government to subdue Chainsaw Man and be eaten by him, infinitely extending lifespans.

During Denji and Yoru’s battle, the devil intrudes and reveals its wishes to the protagonist. Unfortunately, when he refused its wishes and Yoru attacked it for interrupting, the Aging Devil sent them to another world.

In this world, where no one could die or age, people were turned into trees after 1,000 years. However, the main characters were able to find a counter to this, entering Denji’s mouth and using Chainsaw Man’s body, which was still in the real world.

Yoshida, who was also brought into this world, uses the Octopus Devil’s powers to corner the Aging Devil. Right then, a resident of the Aging Devil’s world uses Denji’s connection to Chainsaw Man to drag the devil into its own realm.

Stuck in this world where the Aging Devil couldn’t use its powers, it made a deal with Denji, Yoru, and Yoshida. This involved not attacking each other and going their own way. Hence, having been tricked, the Aging Devil was outsmarted by the main characters and was forced to let them go.

Nevertheless, it is still alive in the series and will likely make its appearance again. Fans believe this saga is the prelude to the Death Devil’s entry since trying to eliminate aging directly correlates to death.

Aging Devil’s Strengths and Abilities

As a Primal Fear, the Aging Devil is one of the strongest and most fearsome beings in Chainsaw Man. By controlling time, it can rapidly cause aging, stop weapons such as bullets, and turn targets to dust.

Additionally, the Aging Devil can transport enemies to another world where they are imprisoned and can’t use their powers. In this realm, they slowly lose rationality and end up turning into trees. It also has a special connection to Hell, where it can attack others through mirrors, similar to the Hell Devil.

Like most other devils, the Aging Devil is immortal. However, it is not afraid of Chainsaw Man’s powers but rather wishes to die at his hands. This lack of fear and unnatural practicality, where it even accepts humans, greatly enhances its capabilities.

The Aging Devil is undoubtedly one of the most powerful devils in Chainsaw Man, but is it the strongest Primal Fear devil? In short, no, the Aging Devil is not the strongest Primal Fear.

Primal Fears are ancient devils that cause terrors impacting humans on a deeper level. Due to their status and abilities, they terrify most other devils too. The Primal Fears are the Aging, Falling, Darkness, and Death Devils.

While the Aging Devil is stronger than the Falling Devil, it cannot overcome the fright caused by Darkness and Death. The Darkness Devil could manipulate the darkness, use mysterious forces, and even control blades telepathically.

The Death Devil, on the other hand, is yet to be introduced in Chainsaw Man. However, due to the Prophecy of Nostradamus, it is believed to be the final antagonist of the series. Death as a concept is arguably the most fearsome for humans, so it would not be surprising for this to be the strongest Primal Fear.

Hence, the Aging Devil might not be the strongest Primal Fear, but its role in the current arc and abilities have shown exactly why Chainsaw Man’s world is so dangerous.

Conclusion

The Aging Devil in Chainsaw Man serves as a chilling reminder of humanity’s deepest fears. Through its powers and role in the narrative, it highlights the inevitability of time and the fragility of existence.

Since this devil was uniquely captivating, fans will be hoping to see it again in the near future.
