The skill tree in Atelier Yumia is pretty straightforward, as you only need skill points to unlock the nodes and use the unlocked skill. However, choosing the best one is critical as your gameplay mostly depends on it. In this guide, we’ll discuss how the skill tree works in Atelier Yumia, along with some tips and tricks to unlock the best skills.
Skill Tree Overview in Atelier Yumia
The skill tree in Atelier Yumia is one of the major sources for strengthening your party of Research Team members. It offers a wide range of abilities that can be unlocked by spending skill points. The amount of SP you get from the two repeatable quests at the Research Team base actually fluctuates a little. The skill tree is categorized into three different sections: Exploration, Synthesis, and Combat.
The Combat Tree has more offensive and defensive skills that are crucial to use in combat where you must fight high-level enemies. The Alchemy skills allow you to improve crafting and synthesis abilities. Exploration skills are dedicated to making resource collection easier and more effective. Each of the sections plays an important role in the game, so choosing the best one can make you a formidable player. Focus on unlocking skills that improve your exploration and crafting efficiency at the initial stages of the game. However, crafting high-quality items increases your combat abilities as well.
How Skill Tree Works in Atelier Yumia
You can acquire the skill tree in Atelier Yumia by just playing the game for just 2 hours max. Focus on completing the main story as soon as possible to unlock the skill tree. However, your exploration plays a big factor in accessing the skill tree. This is the same amount of time required to unlock Pioneering Efforts. The skill tree has the nodes that require SP and Energy Prism.
You can earn the SP through Alchemy, opening chests, and completing Shrines. Shrines are the main sources of obtaining the Energy Prism. Unlocking the nodes requires you to unlock the ones above that are connected to them. Some nodes are aimed in a straight direction, while the Synthesis skill nodes in the Synthesis tree are locked due to story progression. Synthesis skill nodes are commonly used for crafting gear. You can unlock the nodes for the same line to the end.
The skill tree is broken down into three sections: Synthesis, Exploration, and Combat. You cannot unlock any recipes from the skill tree. This means we’re quite simplified in how we’re going to progress with the skill tree.
Synthesis Skill Tree

When you get access to the skill tree, you can pick up Conserved Materials 1 and Quality Control. These are by far the two most important abilities that you should get first. However, the abilities are kind of terrible but it does give you access to quality ratings on items. What it does give you access to, though, is the Particle Conversion which you won’t be utilizing super early.
After that, you can get Conserve Materials 2 which is just an extra item from simple synthesis. Keep in mind that there are two different forms of synthesis in the game. So, these four skills are the first ones you need to get. These nodes give you access to Particle Gathering. This skill increases the kinds and amount of particles that can be collected during particle gathering. This is the most important skill in the skill tree, so the sooner you get this, the better your life will be.
The game offers two different ways to acquire the particle in the game. Your goal, first and foremost, is Particle Gathering 2, as this lets you gather the final tier of particles. You can get this skill around halfway through the first region. You can ignore the nodes available on the left-hand side. These skills are Trait comprehension, so neglect them as you do not start the game with these automatically available. You have to progress through the story until you unlock these upgrades.
On the right side, you have synthesis skills. Likewise, over on the right-hand side, you have synthesis skills. You do not start the game with these, as you can get two of these skills just by progressing. The final two of them do not unlock until you have completed the game. Pick up the first one as soon as you unlock it as you do get some nice synthesis abilities. Do not get out of your way if you are in a rush to unlock something else. Rebuilding is not super important when it comes to making perfect equipment. However, there are some ways you can probably make use of it to get a couple of extra stats.
Exploration Skill Tree

When it comes to exploration, you can start the game with all of these. You can completely ignore the right-hand side, as these are all for food. The food items in this game are very terrible. Aside from the fact that they only last a couple of minutes. While the best one only lasts for 13 minutes at its most optimal level. While progressing through this skill tree, you can do a little bit of mixing and matching. Once you get your Particle Gathering, you can move over to exploration on the left-hand side to get the Gathering Upgrades. Gathering 1 is a decent skill to unlock using skill points, as it raises the rank of gatherable ingredients. We recommend that you get the first four of the upgrades.
The first two are normal gathering upgrades, and then you get the next two items from shooting upgrades. While they are the final tiers, as you still have two more, they can make your life much more simple. After that, you want to get the skills from the middle of the skill tree. Unlock the first tree skills, and they allow you to increase the number of ingredients you get from gathering. Bag Expansion is also the best skill to unlock, as it increases Exploration Bag Size by one stage and the number of materials you can carry. It’s worth mentioning that the Exploration Bag is not what your materials go in. This is just what you take some items out with and not the items you can use in fights. This is like repair boxes and stuff like that for treasure chests and doors.
Also, when you do get an S-rank item, make sure you keep at least one S-rank material. Once you’ve finished your exploration on the left-hand side, get the extra gathered items and finish off the entirety of the left side. At this point, you can be somewhere in region 2. Now, go down the middle tree and get more gathered items from here. At last, you will get the final gathering amount upgrade. However, you do not need to get this very final one skill, the Deft Technique. This skill decreases the difficulty of actions like Lock Picking. High-quality synthesis is the best skill as it boosts the quality cap on synthesized items to 300. This is probably all you need until the final area. Once you get that, you can make some strong gear and items as well.
Combat Skill Tree

You can pick Friend Action 1, as it allows you to perform Friend Actions. You can pick this up early if you want to, as it’s very cheap. However, this is mainly for item usage. On the bright side, the regular combat is better than items early on. The items are not super amazing in the first region unless you grind for a very long time to form SP. You can now go through all of the drop rate increases. You can pick Combat EXP 1 if you want to, but it’s completely pointless. Also, you will hit level 100, the max level in the game, way before the end of the game. Move over to the right-hand side of the skill tree, where you can also upgrade the rare drops as well.
After you have that, you can move over to Mana UP 1. This skill grants a set amount of environmental mana at the start of combat. Precision Counter II is another skill to unlock because it allows you to stun the enemy for a short time after a successful precision Counter. After that, you will get the environmental mana. These is not particles as it’s simply for fight. This unlocks the mana gauge for you and allows you to use really strong overpowered attacks. On the left-hand side of the skill tree, you can get the extra support items and the number of items you can use for friendship skills.
How to Get SP
You will notice a lot of SP gain just while exploring normally, and that should be enough for most people to get through the game. If you do want to gain SP a little bit quicker, there are some tips. You do gain SP for synthesizing and item rebuilding. You can’t gain a ton of SP quickly by putting a ton of materials into an item infinitely. However, you gain the same SP for putting in one material as you do for 20, so.
When you rebuild an item for SP, all you need to do is put in a single material. Just take the item, fill in the core, and then go back to start the synthesis. If you rebuild an item that you don’t have the recipe for, you get a bonus to the SP. You can see the recipe locked at the bottom left corner, above the item name. Rebuilding allows you to gain triple the SP over an item that you do have the recipe for.
