1) Critical Boost Skill
Starting off our list is the Critical Boost skill. As the skill name suggests, this weapon skill boosts your critical hits, increasing the critical damage dealt. At Level 1, the skill boasts a 28 percent increase in critical damage, but level it all the way up to Level 5, and it goes up to a whopping 40 percent. Since critical hits are tied to the Affinity mechanics in Monster Hunter Wilds, we recommend equipping armor, weapons, and charms with high Affinity to increase your chances of critical hits and make the most of this skill.
2) Attack Boost
The Attack boost skill is one of the best pure-damage skills in Monster Hunter Wilds. This skill boosts your attack depending on the number of equipment you have on you with this skill. If you’re well-armed and equipped with the right gear, this skill can be an absolute game changer. At Level 1, the skill grants you a +3 on Attack. While this may seem like a minor boost, you can level this skill up to Level 5, where you have a 4 percent attack boost in addition to a +9 increase in Attack. This skill is one of the easier ones to level up, too, making it one of the best in the game.
3) Critical Element
As you prepare to hunt any monster, it is important to make sure to study it all the way through. The monsters all have elemental weaknesses to exploit, and the Critical Element skill lets you make the most of these weaknesses. This weapon skill enhances your elemental damage and is highly useful when you’re using the right elemental attacks against a monster. The more you level this skill up, the more elemental damage you deal, and the faster you dispose of your target.

4) Weakness Exploit
As stated earlier, monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds have several weaknesses you can exploit. There are elemental weaknesses, but there are also weak spots on a monster’s body that you can target for extra damage. Weakness Exploit is an armor skill that boosts Affinity when targeting a monster’s weak points. This means the more you target the weak spots, the higher your chance of landing a critical hit and the more likely you are to deal heavy damage. At Level 1, this skill boosts Affinity by 5 percent, going all the way up to 30 percent at Level 5.
5) Peak Performance
The final skill on this list is Peak Performance. The skill being named “Peak Performance” is intentional, as it requires you to be at the top of your game. This armor skill boosts your attack if you’re at full health. At Level 1, you see a +3 to Attack, which increases up to +20 when fully upgraded to Level 5. Since you need to be at full HP to use this skill, this skill is best used when you’re kickstarting a fight. Use the initial rush to deal high damage, and then dodge effectively to use it for as long as you can.
