In Enshrouded, the Barbarian is an aggressive melee damage dealer focused on strength and constitution. What makes the Barbarian build unique, is the double jump damage skill, critical melee attacks heal you, and passive damage reduction for your group. This build is designed for those players who love ultra-aggressive playstyles in RPGs.

The main premise behind the best Enshrouded Barbarian build is to kill targets to flood your Blood Rage skill. This will increase your overall damage while using the Warrior skill line to build towards Cutting damage for two-handed Axe. Your survivability will come from melee critical hits and damage reduction. Play this build if you love Barbarians in other games like Baldur’s Gate 3.

Overpowered and Merciless 

Every build and player should be aware of two key mechanics in Enshrouded builds. Overpowered is a mechanic that allows you to make an enemy vulnerable. With a Barbarian, you do this by either timing blocks or filling up the silver stun bar beneath the health bar. Additionally, you can create overpower by attacking a target while they are blocking. This will then stun the enemy giving a circle above their head.

For this best Barbarian build, we’ve not selected the Merciless Attack talent. Instead, the skill Shockwave was selected as a way to create more area damage passively. The merciless attack is a helpful skill only in one-on-one situations and is weaker in area-based fights. Thus, be aware, that we will still take advantage of overpowered, but do so in a passive way.

Weapon Choices

The Barbarian’s weapon choices are mainly influenced by skill selections. The Warrior skill tree (red) has skills that increase different damage types: Cutting, Piercing, or Blunt. It’s best to pick a weapon and playstyle centered on one to two damage types. For this build, a two-handed axe with Cutting and Blunt damage is recommended. Ideally, you want a high critical chance bonus because the Battle Heal skill is based on critical hits. More criticals, more incoming healing.

The second choice for weapons is in set bonuses. Ideally, critical strike chance and critical strike damage are the two best weapon traits for a Barbarian. Critical chance will increase your healing with a skill that gives health on critical hits. Critical strike damage will increase how hard you hit and both are paired well together.

Survival

When it comes to surviving playing the Barbarian in Enshrouded, the Battle Heal ability is essential. This skill rewards you for critical strikes, giving you healing based on your health pool. Thus, constitution and increasing it allows for greater healing within the need for potions or retreating. At max level, you can reach 20 constitution and 25+ strength depending on your consumables, gear, and skills. Your overall health pool will be around 1400 or more, giving you a massive amount of health to aid in survival.

Unlike other builds like the Wizard or Ranger, you must continue to attack to trigger Battle Heal for high survivability. We select this skill early in the game, but you can expect a slow start until unlocked. Additionally, Merciless kills and Blood Warrior will spawn a red orb, filling 10% of our health. The overall goal with the Barbarian build is to bring as much passive damage and healing so you can stay fighting rather than retreating. Use both critical hits and orbs spawned by overpower/merciless combination to survive just as well as a Battlemage.

Best Barbarian Attributes

The best attribute for a Barbarian build is Strength because it increases melee damage by 5% per attribute point.  The second most important is the Constitution which gives you 50 health per attribute point.  Lastly, Dexterity will help increase ranged damage if you use a bow weapon frequently. 

Additionally, your Flame Altar level will increase your attribute bonus. This is a priority for improving your Enshrouded Barbarian build power level. 

Skill Selections

In Enshrouded, you earn skill points from leveling and completing Elixir Wells. Based on the level range, we have broken down the skill sections and listed the best skills to select at every level for this build. While your skill points totals may change depending on your overall level and Elixir Well completions, save up skill points if you cannot afford one at your current level. Below is what our skill points were at various levels in Enshrouded:

• Level 10 – 36 Skill Points
• Level 20 – 72 Skill Points
• Level 25 – 114 Skill Points
• Level 35 – 149 Skill Points

The maximum level in Enshrouded is 35 with the furthest region being Albaneve Summits.  The general skill selections below are specifically geared towards combat performance. We will list and explain the most critical of all the skills. Moreover, look to the utility skill section if you prefer more utility, crafting, and less combat emphasis. Lastly, you can always respec your skill points with Runes at the Flame Altar, so feel free to experiment. However, the selections below are the best overall for combat power and enjoyment for the best Barbarian build in Enshrouded.

Level 1-10 Skills

The beginning levels look to use Jump Attack early, then grab Battle Heal. This can help avoid incoming damage and return some health when making critical strikes.

Level 21-25 Skills

Best Barbarian Skills Explained

• Jump Attack (Athlete) – A jump attack allows you to leap into the area and smash down doing area-based damage. This helps avoid attacks with double jumps and does area damage for you.
• Evasion Attack (Tank) – This skill is your gap closer forward and when attacking will charge into combat doing more damage. It won’t help to avoid damage, but is helpful as a way to keep on top of targets.
• Battle Heal (Tank) – Battle Heal is the most critical survivability skill and makes your build focus on critical and high-health pools to passively heal.
• Relentless (Barbarian) – Using a double jump attack with a two-handed weapon to trigger a critical with relentless is a great combo. This will give your next attack another 10% critical, and possibly healing with Battle Heal.
• Blood Rage (Barbarian) – Kill enemies to feed a 20% damage bonus for a brief time.
• Warden, Tower, & Earth Aura (Tank) – All of these skills reduce damage and stack on top of each other helping you survive being in melee combat.

Barbarian Gameplay & Tips

The way to play the Barbarian build in Enshrouded is to aggressively look to kill the weakest target first. This will trigger Blood Rage increasing your damage by 20%. In single-target situations, it’s best to use one hand and shield and look to parry any incoming attacks. Most monsters attack after you land 2-3 swings and an audible clue will give you a hint for an incoming attack.

During area or multiple enemy situations, look to double jump and attack with a two-handed weapon. This will create a powerful area-based damage effect and multi-kills. However, this will be an intense drain on your stamina, so consume stamina regeneration or prepare accordingly.

Your critical bonus is quite low at the start of the game but increases when you land a two-handed critical. This is why it’s important to try and trigger this effect (relentless) via multiple enemies during airborne attacks. Then, look to kill the weakest target to increase overall damage, and keep the pressure on! • Level 5 (Fur Armor Set) – A basic form of armor crafted by the Blacksmith. Materials needed to craft are torn cloth, animal fur, string, and metal scraps.
• Level 8 (Rising Fighter Set) – First set with melee damage bonuses. Materials needed to craft are Bonemeal, Torn Cloth, String, Metal Scraps, and Resin.
• Level 13 (Adventurer Set) – High damage set emphasizing melee damage. Materials needed to craft Amber, Torn Cloth, Indigo Plant, Linen, and Dried Fur.
  • Guard of the North: this set will be found in the Pike area.
• Level 18 (Mercenary Set) – Upgraded damage set. Materials needed to craft Line, Mint Mushroom Meat, Torn Cloth, Fossilized Bone, and Leather.
• Level 23 (Solider Set) – Best end-game melee damage set. Materials needed to craft Fossilized Bone, Padding, Charcoal, Iron Bars, Yellow Fabric, and Lapislazuli.

Best Barbarian Consumables

The Barbarian consumables can equip up to four food effects due to the Dessert Stomach passive skill in the Survivor skill tree. Look to consume one constitution, strength, health regeneration, and stamina regeneration at end game. Each of these are crafted at the Farmer.

• Beef Stew (constitution): +4 STR, +4 Health Reg, +4 Con, +3 Frost Resist.
• Open Sandwich (strength): +4 STR, +2 Con.

Healing

Health regeneration and healing come in three forms: berries, bandages, and potions. Each can be used to gain health back slowly or instantly.
