Weapon Skills
- Slugger (Level 3): With the Slugger skill at level 3, you’ll be able to stun monsters much more easily. At this level, the skill adds 40% to your stun power. Once the monsters are stunned, it will become much easier to rain on quick attacks with the sword and shield, including some devastating combos. While no weapon provides this skill for Sword and Shield hunters, you can equip decorations, such as the Quickswitch-KO Jwl 3, Dragon-KO Jewel 3, Gambit-KO Jewel 3, and many more, to utilize the skill.
- Attack Boost (Level 3): As the name of the skill already suggests, this one greatly buffs your weapon attack. Although the skill goes all the way up to level 5, you can leave it at a level 3. At this level, the skill will improve your attack stats by +7. This can make quite a bit of difference in fights, allowing your Sword and Shield to hit much harder. You can unlock the skill by acquiring and using Chief Kukri and Bone Kukri weapons as a Sword and Shield wielder.

- Burst (Level 5): Burst is a skill that rewards you for hitting the enemy continuously, one after the other. It is a perfect skill to activate when armed with a quick weapon, such as the Sword and Shield. The fifth and final level of the skill will ensure you receive a significant stat boost when you hit a beast five times, one after the other. Usually, the skill will improve your elemental and physical attack stats upon activation. Some armor pieces that offer this skill include G Ebony Braces Alpha, Udra Miremail Alpha, Conga Greaves Beta, and others.
- Weakness Exploit (Level 5): This is a crucial skill to have for any build, especially for a Sword and Shield playthrough. It increases affinity whenever you land your hits on either weakened body parts or wounds of monsters. At level 5, it will give +30% affinity whenever you strike a weakness region. Add to this another 20% affinity when you strike on open wounds. Get a wide range of armor pieces, including G Arkveld Greaves Alpha, Dahaad Shardcoil Beta, Nerscylla Mail Alpha, and more.
- Divine Blessing (Level 2): This skill doesn’t improve your damage outfit but helps minimize the damage you take. At its second level, the skill can reduce incoming damage by 30%, which improves your overall survivability. This is true, especially when you consider the close combat involved with wielding a Sword and Shield. The Damascus Helm Alpha, Rathian Vambraces Alpha, and the Suja Sash Alpha are some of the armor pieces that come with this specific skill.
