Wylder is easily the best Nightfarer in Elden Ring Nightreign, purely in terms of his stats. He is essentially the “jack of all trades, master of none” Nightfarer in the game. Although Wylder is best played as a Strength-Dexterity character, he can use almost any weapon quite efficiently.

You can even make Wylder work as a Sorcerer or a Pyromancer. Much like Raider, much of Wylder’s strength lies in his ability to deal massive DPS with single hits. The Nightfarer’s Ultimate Art, Onslaught Stake, deals a ton of damage and often breaks bosses’ stances. Also, with the right Relics, Wylder is easily the best choice for the Enhanced Sentient Pest—more so than Raider or even Ironeye.

However, to properly use Wylder as a viable option against the Enhanced Gnoster, you will need a well-optimized build. Here’s a comprehensive guide to the best Wylder build for the Enhanced Sentient Pest in Elden Ring Nightreign.

For this Wylder build, we focused on enhancing elemental damage. Wylder already deals fairly decent physical damage and can also deal Fire damage with his Ultimate Art. As such, we skipped using Fire Affinity for this build. Instead, we chose Frost and went with Caligo’s Relic. Frostbite is easily the best element to use against most Nightlords (except for Heolstor and Caligo). It not only deals a ton of damage but also slows down enemies, making it much easier to manage their combos and AOEs.

In addition to Frost, we also used Augur’s Relic to boost Wylder’s survivability. However, you can replace Augur’s Relic with a different one if you prefer.

The idea behind this build is to give Wylder access to both Fire and Frost damage while also making him viable as a tank. With this build, you can stay focused on Faurtis, making it easier for your teammates to deal damage to the boss. In addition, this build also works incredibly well for solo players. However, if you choose to go solo, we recommend using a Relic to boost Wylder’s Art cooldown.

Here are some tips to help you properly use the best Wylder build against Enhanced Sentient Pest:

  • For Enhanced Sentient Pest, you want to save both your Ultimate Art and FP for the second phase. If you have the Art cooldown Relic equipped, you can use your Ultimate at the start of Phase 1. However, it’s best to save it for when Animus appears. Also, if you have access to Wylder’s character Relic that spreads Fire upon using the Ultimate, it is highly recommended for this boss fight.
  • The first phase is fairly simple and should be easy to manage with Augur’s Relic equipped. However, Phase 2 is where the real battle begins. Be sure to upgrade your starting weapon to Epic rarity. We highly recommend conjuring Crater Shifting Earth using the Sovereign Sigils, although it is not mandatory.
  • As for passives, focus on Physical Damage Negation, FP Regeneration upon Attacks, and Improved Jump Attacks. We also recommend power-stancing Greatswords, which significantly increases the poise damage you can deal with jumping attacks. Also, be sure to bring at least one Starlight Shard with you to the Nightlord.
  • In Phase 2, focus primarily on Faurtis. Unlike Gnoster, Faurtis is much easier to stance-break. Furthermore, since you’re using Greatswords, it is a much easier target to hit. Additionally, make sure not to hold back on using your Ultimate in Phase 2. With its knockback effect and Fire damage, Onslaught Stake is one of the best tools to deal with Gnoster.

Additional Notes

While you can achieve roughly the same damage with Bleed instead of Frost, we still recommend using Frost. Frost may deal less overall damage compared to a Bleed proc, but it impacts the boss’s defenses and also slows them down for a few seconds.
