Blue Prince: How To Save Game

Blue Prince allows you to automatically save at the end of each run, but saving in the midst of one cuts your day short.

Blue Prince is a strategic roguelike puzzle game that throws you into Mt. Holly Estate with one goal: find Room 46. The rooms in this mansion change and shift every day, making the mansion a seemingly uncharted territory every run. It is this element that grants Blue Prince its roguelike nature.

An average run sees you navigating puzzles, hallways, locks, and much more. At the end of each run, you’re automatically prompted to save the game. The game does so without fail each time, and you just have to accept the prompt to save. Sometimes, however, you fail to make it to the end of a run. You’re exhausted by the puzzles and wish to save and quit. You can save and quit, hoping to resume back sometime later and continue where you left off. While this option may seem convenient, it is not what it presents itself to be.

While a standard save-and-quit option in any game would save your progress as is, putting you back to the exact spot you left off, Blue Prince instead cuts and pushes you right to the end of the run. The game prompts you to end the day and the run, hampering your progress.

Save Game Restrictions in Blue Prince

As stated earlier, Blue Prince does allow you to save and exit, but not in the middle of a run. This means if you begin a run, you have no choice but to follow through. This can be a bit of a bummer, as a run can take a fair amount of time, which can even lean towards a higher end, depending on the level of puzzles you encounter.

Should you choose to utilize the “save and quit” option in the middle of a run, the game will automatically fast-forward to the end of the day, cutting the day short. This can be a net negative, as it moves the clock forward without letting you access any of the natural developments of a run.

Each time you wrap up a run, the game prompts you to save and then provides the option to continue further. If you choose to do so, you set off and begin another run. We recommend finishing a run and only continuing with another if you’re sure to commit. If not, you will be wasting time.
