ESO Stamina Necromancer PvE Build

This guide explains how to use the best Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) Stamina Necromancer PvE Build, skills, gear, champion points, and more!

ESO Stamina Necromancer PvE Build

This build has been updated for the Update 42 patch of the Elder Scrolls Online.

Why Should You Play the ESO Stamina Necromancer PvE Build?

ESO Stamina Necromancer PvE Build is for players looking to complete group content with a well-rounded, aoe-heavy class. As a twist from last patch, necros are hitting really hard with the introduction of scribing in the Gold Road Chapter. This is primarily due to one script, Warrior’s Opportunity. This script puts a debuff on targets, causing them to take 8% more Martial damage. A massive amount of the necro’s damage is Martial, meaning they got a big boost overall in damage.

Necromancers are a more difficult dps class to learn for beginners, but they’re a very rewarding class to play. They’re also one of the better classes in the Elder Scrolls Online for group buffs and utility.

ESO Stamina Necromancer PvE Build Playstyle

Use the following rotation as the starter point. After, apply your buffs and cast the DoT skills on cooldown for the best, highest DPS. The Damage over Time skills (DoTs) do more damage than your main spammable. Thus, they need to be cast less often and are easier to maintain, for example, The Degeneration from Mages Guild or the Barb Trap from Fighters Guild. Maintain DoTs and use your spammable skill as filler until you need to reapply the DoTS.

If you run out of resources, do a heavy attack and return to your rotation. Remember that a heavy attack on off-balance enemies will return double the resources. Additionally, if you are a beginner or struggle with sustain, you can flex in the Consuming Trap skill instead of a DoT skill. The Consuming Trap floods both resources when a target dies.

ESO Stamina Necromancer PvE Build Features and Mechanics

Below are some of the features found using the PvE Stamina Necromancer in the Elder Scrolls Online:

  • Class – Necromancer
  • Weapon One – Dual Wield
  • Weapon Two – Flame Staff
  • Armor Types: 6 Medium, 1 Light
  • Mythic: Velothi Ur-Mage’s Amulet

Skills

Front Bar – Dual Wield

Front Bar Weapon choice options:

  1. Dual Wield
  2. Two-handed
  3. Bow

Blighted Blastbones (Morph of Blastbones | Skill Line : Grave Lord) – Cast every third skill, making up a huge portion of your damage.

Venom Skull (Morph of Flame Skull | Skill Line : Grave Lord) – A stamina ability where the skull bomb now does Poison damage. Moreover, every third cast increases damage and any Necro ability will count towards that third cast.

Deadly Cloak (Morph of Blade Cloak | Skill Line : Dual Wield) – Major Evasion and good aoe damage, getting stronger during execute.

Detonating Siphon (Morph of Shocking Siphon | Skill Line : Grave Lord) – Uses a corpse for crazy AoE DoT.

Camouflaged Hunter (Morph of Expert Hunter | Skill Line : Fighters Guild) – Use for critical chance buff and minor berserker.

Flawless Dawnbreaker (Morph of Dawnbreaker | Skill Line : Fighters Guild) – The performance of Dawnbreaker is very good now that it grants a massive spell damage boost of 300 for 20 seconds. Not to mention added spell damage from Fighters guild, Slayer passive. This is a great ultimate to use that’s low cost.

Back Bar – Flame Staff

Back Bar Weapon choice options:

  1. Destruction Staff
  2. Two Handed
  3. Dual Wield
  4. Bow

Blockade of Fire (Morph of Wall of Elements | Skill Line : Destruction Staff) – AoE deals magic damage plus additional effect depending on type of staff

Unnerving Boneyard (Morph of Boneyard | Skill Line : Grave Lord) – AoE frost damage applies Major Breech to enemies. Consumes a corpse to deal 30% more damage.

Skeletal Archer (Morph of Skeletal Mage | Skill Line : Grave Lord) – Hard hitting DoT. Swap in spammable here and move to back bar if needed.

Anti Cavalry Caltrops (Morph of Caltrops | Skill Line : Assault) – Causes physical damage, movement reduction, and stamina drain.

Camouflaged Hunter (Morph of Expert Hunter | Skill Line : Fighters Guild) – Use for critical damage buff and minor berserker. Can use this slot to switch for a heal if needed.

Glacial Colossus (Morph of Frozen Colossus | Skill Line : Grave Lord) – Colossus summon deals Frost damage in three smashes, and stuns enemies for 4 seconds in final blow. Also applies Major Vulnerability to all enemies hit for 17 seconds.

Scribing Skills – ESO PvE Stamina Necromancer Build

Ulfsild's Contingency Grimoire ESO

The best grimoires for a Stamina Necromancer PvE build are Ulfsild’s Contingency and Traveling Knife. Contingency gives you a large radius burst of damage as well as a long DoT. Setting Contingency up with Flame damage modifiers gives you the greatest dps increase for aoe fights, but this skill isn’t really worth using in more single target encounters. Traveling Knife is another great grimoire for the Necro that does great damage. You’ll want to run this in group content due to the boost to martial melee damage you get.

Below are the suggested combination of Grimoires, focus, signature, and affix scripts:

  • Ulfsild’s Contingency: Flame Damage (Focus Script), Lingering Torment (Signature Script), Minor Vulnerability (Affix Script)
  • Traveling Knife: Bloody (Focus Script), Warrior’s Opportunity (Signature Script), Major Savagery/Prophecy (Affix Script)

If you use Traveling Knife with Major Savagery/Prophecy, you can drop Camouflaged Hunter for an extra skill on your front and back bar.

The Scribing System utilizes one of 11 new skills from the Gold Road Chapter called Grimoires. With Grimoires, you can customize spells via Scripts. The scribing feature requires the purchase of the Gold Road Chapter (sponsored link). If you wish to know more about Scribing, check out our full guide here.

Rotation and Parse

The Necromancer parses similarly to other patches, casting Blighted Blastbones every third skill. With the rework to Blastbones last patch, Grave Lord’s Sacrifice ended up not doing as much damage as everyone hoped it would. Blighted Blastbones is the way to go, accompanied by strong DoTs.

If you’re parsing on the target dummy, you’ll want to use Weapon Power Potions, but in content, you should have Igneous Weapons from a Dragonknight. You can get away with tri-pots if you’re either using Camo Hunter or an Affix script for Major Prophecy/Savagery to source Major crit.

One of the main ways cro is strong this patch is because of the new Signature Script Warrior’s Opportunity. On Traveling Knife, this places a debuff on targets hit, causing them to take 8% more Martial damage, resulting in a huge boost to the cro’s dps. While cros are still often bringing support sets in organized groups, they unexpectedly feel much stronger than they have in recent patches.

Rotation Explained

To start an encounter, begin by pre-buffing Skeletal Archer. Then, cast Blighted Blastbones as soon as the encounter begins. You then want to cast two skills inbetween every Blastbones, keeping your DoTs up and filling the gaps with your spammable.

If you start to run into sustain issues, you can always cast Detonating Siphon once every three skill casts as it is free to cast, and you’ll deal a burst of aoe damage around the corpse you target. Blastbones always creates a target, so you should have a corpse to consume every time, as long as you don’t cast Graveyard right before Siphon.

Below are passive skill lines that add power without requiring a skill slot while playing the ESO One Bar PvE Stamina Necromancer Build. Consider taking all the skill passives in the skill tree listed below:

Consumables

Braised Rabbit with Spring Vegetables - ESO Food Consumable

The best consumables for the Stamina Necromancer PvE build are Braised Rabbit with Spring Vegetables and tri-potions. Braised Rabbit with Spring Vegetables gives a massive amount of health and stamina, stats that give you both the most survivability and damage of any other consumable. If you struggle with stamina sustain, you could switch to Artaeum Takeaway Broth or Dubious Camoran Throne as a cheaper option. These both give up some stamina and health for stamina sustain. Fortunately, the Necro has really solid sustain passives, so you should be able to sustain bi-stat food without issue.

For your potions, both of your major weapon/spell damage and critical chance buffs are sourced through the build, so you can run tri-pots. This gives you a large burst of resources when you need them. You can of course switch these out for heroism potions, but with Update 42, many groups can source Minor Heroism through group scribing skills instead.

  • Braised Rabbit with Spring Vegetables: Increase Max Health by 5395 and Max Stamina by 4936 for 1.5 hours. Ingredients: Greens (1), Seasoning (1), Small Game (1).
    • Artaeum Takeaway Broth: Increase Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406, Max Stamina by 3080, and Stamina Recovery by 338 for 2 hours. Ingredients: Fish (20), Melon (5), Powdered Mother of Pearl (5), Torchbug Thorax (5).
  • Essence of Health (tri-stat): Restore 7329 Health, 6618 Magicka, and 6618 Stamina immediately. Grants Major Fortitude, Major Intellect, and Major Endurance, which increase your Health Recovery, Magicka Recovery, and Stamina Recovery by 20% for 31.7 seconds. (effects are scaled based on your level) Ingredients: Bugloss, Columbine, Mountain Flower.
