Can You Dual Wield Two-Handed Weapons in Path of Exile 2

Dual wielding in Path of Exile 2 (PoE2) has always been possible. But can you do so with two-handed weapons?

Dual-wielding weapons in Path of Exile 2 is a neat trick to increase your DPS without much time investment into the game. The game gives you access to a second off-hand slot, which is generally used for holding a shield. However, players who are more interested in an offensive playstyle can wield another one-handed weapon. Two-handed weapons, however, work a bit differently.

When a two-handed weapon is equipped, you can’t use the off-hand slot simultaneously. This is the case with many RPGs, not just Path of Exile 2. The Giant’s Blood Keystone changes it all. Players can equip it and wreak havoc on the battlefield by dual-wielding two-handed weapons.

As of the latest patch, you will find this keystone in the lower left quadrant of the Passive Skill tree. Classes such as the Duelist, Marauder, and Warrior can easily access it. If you opted for the Titan Ascension for the Warrior class, this keystone will make you a beast in battle.

This keystone might sound all-powerful, but that can’t be farther from the truth. It brings a few drawbacks. Moreover, you would need to be a highly experienced player in the game to overcome one of these troubles.

There are two major drawbacks that you can face if you acquire the Giant’s Blood Keystone and start using it for your character:

  • You can’t use any off-hand ability. This means no casting spells using mana.
  • Players who equip this keystone will find that all weapons have a doubled attribute requirement.

So, if you are somebody who uses their off-hand for defense or mana abilities, you may need to make a sacrifice when using the Giant’s Blood Keystone. Additionally, those who equip a Coronal Maul in dual-wield, for example, will have to develop their Strength stat up to 440 instead of 220.

It’s not all gain. You would have to grind just as much to use the Giant’s Blood for your benefit. Players who enjoy an increased DPS will benefit from this change, though. If you don’t like casting spells much and/or defending yourself in the middle of combat, feel free to grind for this keystone.
