Does Atlyss allow players to respec their characters? Learn about the game’s take on this feature and how to do it.
Atlyss adopted the classic character-building RPG element into the game. Not only do you decide how your character appears in the game, but you also get to allocate skill and attribute points to specific skills and attributes.
While there are too many skills to be listed out here, the basic attributes that you can invest in are: Strength, Mind, Dexterity, and Vitality. All of these serve different purposes and are suited for different classes altogether.
For example, investing in Strength all the way for a magic class wouldn’t be a great decision because you could have invested in some other attribute. So, whenever you feel like you have made a mistake, the respec feature in Atlyss is there to help you out.
Beware though, it comes with a price (a very heavy one). You don’t have to sacrifice your character, but you just have to grind to earn a lot of Crowns in the game.
How to Respec in Atlyss
You first have to go meet Sally inside the Sanctum. She is a great friend who offers new quests and is open to trading. If you head west from the spawn point in the Sanctum, you will find her. Shop to see what she has available. Sally must be possessing several Tomes. What you need must be the Tome of Unlearning and the Tome of Naivety.
Both of them serve different purposes. While Unlearning reimburses all your skill points in the General and Class Skillbook, Naivety will return the attribute points. They cost 1200 Crowns and 1500 Crowns respectively. And to be fair, you probably won’t need to buy them again.
If your character’s class doesn’t match the attributes or skills you have selected, this is a must-do. Note that you can only respec in Atlyss once you have reached Level 10. Moreover, you can’t respec your chosen class. So, once you have selected a class, you can only build your skills and attributes around it. Those who wish to start anew, with a different save file, are free to do so.
This is similar to another restriction that this game seems to have.
Altering the Looks of Your Character
When you start your journey in Atlyss, you will have the option to build your character from scratch. You have complete freedom over it. Once you are done creating, you can save and move on. This character will stay with you until you finish the game.
However, sometimes, you realize you have made a mistake in your creation. Or you could simply just be bored with how your small adventurer appears. The developers resolved this issue by allowing you to change the protagonist’s look even several hours into the game.
This is similar to respec-ing because you would have to grind a lot for an Illusion Stone. Additionally, you will find that you can’t change one decision that you have already made, and that is the race of the character.
The only difference between the two features is that the appearance thing is purely cosmetic, while the respec feature helps you improve your gameplay.
