Romance isn’t an integral aspect of Metaphor ReFantazio so far, but you can enjoy it indirectly if you so wish.
Learning that you can romance characters in an RPG can be an altering experience for fans of the genre. While romance may not be the most integral aspect of RPG lore, it helps humanize the protagonist in a way. However, if you wish to explore romantic storylines in Metaphor ReFantazio, the new game developed by Atlus, you may be disappointed as it does not allow you to romance characters per se. The protagonist in the game is no casanova like Geralt of Rivia.
Fortunately, your character is not an emotionless android. Romancing in Metaphor ReFantazio is more subtle. RPGs usually tend to go all in on romance, but the savior of the United Kingdom of Euchronia doesn’t have time for elaborate love stories.
Explore a Romantic Connection With Eupha in Metaphor ReFantazio
The only character that you can “romance” in the game is Eupha. Being an RPG, the game does not provide a close-ended outcome for this romance. If you are not interested in Eupha, you can let her off easily. But, if you like her paired with the protagonist, you can make certain choices to develop a deeper connection with her.
Eupha is the fifth member to join your party on Virga Island. Once you complete the side quest she has for you, you can begin with her onboarding. As a priestess of the Mustari, she doesn’t know much about the outer world. She develops a soft spot for the protagonist, who is rather understanding and gentle with her. On many occasions, you can choose some fairly flirty and romantic dialogue options.
If all goes well, she will ask you to shake hands with her. She requests this to convey her feelings. It is not just a casual handshake but a special, intimate one that the Mustari hold dear to them. Eupha’s dialogues make her feelings clear. You can either let her off gently or confess that you feel the same way.
There are no scenes that explicitly show how interested the two characters are in each other. But, she is probably the canon lover Metaphor ReFantazio fans were searching for. On your path to the end, you can choose to flirt with other characters as well, but the Mustari priestess is the only one with whom you pursue something meaningful.
