Find out if you can trade Dynamax Pokemon in Pokemon GO, how it works, and whether Niantic might change the rules.

Dynamax Pokemon have arrived in Pokemon GO with the Max Out season and the GO All Out event. Trainers everywhere are on the hunt for these powerful creatures, eager to use them in Max Battles. But what if you want to trade one? Can you send a Dynamax Pokemon to a friend?
If you’re worried about restrictions, there’s good news — you can trade Dynamax Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Even better, these trades aren’t considered Special Trades. This means you won’t have to use up your daily Special Trade limit just to exchange a Dynamax-capable Pokemon.
Whether your friend has a Dynamax Pokemon or not, the trade still counts as a regular trade. It works just like swapping any other Pokemon in the game.
How Do Lucky Trades Work With Dynamax Pokemon?

If you’re hoping for a Lucky Dynamax Pokemon, you’re in luck! Dynamax Pokemon follow the same rules as any other tradeable Pokemon. That means if you and your trade partner become Lucky Friends or trigger a Lucky Trade, your Dynamax-capable Pokemon can become Lucky too.
A Lucky Dynamax Pokemon could be a great asset, especially if you plan to use it in Max Battles. But even if you don’t, getting a stronger version with lower Stardust costs for powering up is always a win.
Did Niantic Make a Mistake?
When trainers realized Dynamax Pokemon weren’t Special Trades, some started questioning if this was intentional. In Pokemon GO, Special Trades usually include legendary, mythical, and Ultra Beast Pokemon. So why aren’t Dynamax Pokemon part of that category?
One possible reason is that Dynamaxing isn’t exclusive to certain species in the mainline games. Unlike Gigantamax, which only specific Pokemon can do, Dynamaxing is a universal battle feature. Niantic may have decided that making all Dynamax Pokemon Special Trades wasn’t necessary — especially since some of them aren’t particularly strong outside of Max Battles.
Of course, if Niantic ever changes the rules, that could mean they originally planned for Dynamax Pokemon to be Special Trades. But for now, trading them remains simple and unrestricted.
What About Future Dynamax Legendary Pokemon?

Right now, common Dynamax Pokemon, like Wooloo, can be traded easily. But what happens if a legendary or mythical Pokemon gets a Dynamax form in the future?
It’s likely that a Dynamax Mewtwo, for example, would still be considered a Special Trade. Since Mewtwo is already a legendary Pokemon, Niantic would probably keep its trading restrictions even if it could Dynamax. But nothing is confirmed yet, so we’ll have to wait for official updates.
Should You Trade Dynamax Pokemon Now?
If you have a Dynamax Pocket Monster you want to trade, it might be a good idea to do it sooner rather than later. Niantic could decide to change the system, making these trades more restrictive.
For now, though, trainers can enjoy regular trades for Dynamax Pokemon. If this rule sticks, it’s a welcome decision for many players who appreciate the flexibility. So go ahead — trade away and build the Dynamax team you want!
