Floating Cemetery in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 stands high above the land, located northwest of Falling Leaves. The sky setting immediately feels different. There’s isolation, quiet tension, and a sense that something has been left behind. You can’t get here early. Esquie’s ability to fly, unlocked at the beginning of Act 3, is your only way in.

How To Access the Floating Cemetery

Start by returning to the Falling Leaves area. Once you have gained Esquie’s flying skill, look to the northwest. The Floating Cemetery isn’t grounded—literally. It’s suspended in the air. Move carefully as you approach, because the path there offers little visual guidance. Once inside, you will notice the tone shift from earlier zones. Everything here moves at a slower pace.

Fast Travel and Rest Points

As you make your way through, Expedition Flag Rest Points become vital. These locations allow you to fast travel across different parts of the cemetery. The environment stretches out, so reaching new sections without backtracking can be difficult without these flags. Make sure to activate each one. Some are easier to miss than others, especially those tucked beside ruined structures or hidden behind slanted walkways.

Each flag not only acts as a recovery point but also forms part of your strategy later. If a boss fight doesn’t go your way, returning with a new approach becomes easier. The layout is layered, and these flags help you regain footing quickly.

Chalier’s Role and Moral Choice

Floating Cemetery holds more than enemies. You will come across an NPC named Chalier, linked to a Nevron Quest. This encounter adds emotional depth to your time in the area. Chalier will ask what weapon it should use. After your input, it relocates to a chapel deeper in the zone. Eventually, you will face it in battle.

After defeating it, Chalier asks for release. You are given a choice to either end its suffering or walk away. The consequences are immediate. Whether or not you decide to fulfil the request, the moment sticks with you. The game doesn’t push you toward one decision. You have to weigh it yourself.

Pictos Location

Another feature of this area is a special Picto called Auto Powerful. It isn’t lying around for you to collect. You will receive it after agreeing to Chalier’s request. That’s the only condition. If you choose to go through with it, this Picto becomes yours.

What makes Auto Powerful useful is how it works the moment battle begins. For the first three turns, your character receives the Powerful effect. This can set the tone in many encounters, especially where speed matters. It also offers minor boosts to your Speed and Critical Rate. These bonuses can turn the tide early in fights, especially if you rely on quicker character builds.

Area Layout and Combat Notes

Combat in Floating Cemetery can be punishing. Enemies don’t wait around. Some spawn from above, while others come at you from the side with little warning. Keep your guard up during transitions between levels. The area includes vertical paths, crumbling edges, and platforms that aren’t immediately visible from certain angles.

This place isn’t packed with standard loot, but it does offer selective rewards. You will find weapons and items by inspecting corners and chapel ruins. When you spot a Rest Point nearby, take a few moments to explore the surroundings. There’s a chance you will uncover a useful item just a few steps away.
