Eveque is the first main boss you encounter, and this guide helps you defeat the boss in the Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

As you explore Spring Meadows, you will confront Eveque, Clair Obscur Expedition 33’s first main story boss. This boss fight is a true test of how well you have grasped the game’s combat mechanics. You will encounter Eveque during Act 1: Gustave near the Expedition Flag 70 Rest Point.
At this stage, you only have two party members—Gustave and Lune. Since Eveque is the first boss of the game, it doesn’t pose much threat. However, failing to understand attack patterns and weaknesses can cost you the fight. Whether you are having trouble with the boss or preparing in advance, this guide explains how to defeat Eveque effectively while exploring the best strategies.

Attack Patterns of Eveque in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Eveque features several attacking patterns, while some can be easy to dodge/parry, others require precision and timing.
- Eveque’s primary attack involves summoning a spear and launching it at one of the party members. Once the boss’s HP drops to 50%, this transforms into a dual spear attack, where Eveque summons and strikes players with two spears simultaneously, dealing more damage. However, these spear attacks can be parried or dodged easily.
- Eveque also casts a spell attack, where the boss launches crystals from the ground towards the party members. When Eveque gains full power, this attack strikes multiple times (around 8 times), targeting the entire party. The spell attacks are tricky to dodge or parry and require precision.
- Around the halfway point, Eveque summons two minions to assist in battle.

How To Beat Eveque in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Here we have provided some tips to make your battle with Eveque easier:
- Eveque starts the battle with shields over the health bar. It also gains multiple shields during the battle when enraged. When the enemy has a shield, your attacks deal no damage—instead, each removes one shield. Make sure to remove all shields before attempting your powerful attacks. The free aim shooting attacks are the best option to remove shields, which requires AP. You can also use Gustave’s Lumiere Assault to perform 5 consecutive attacks to remove multiple shields.
- Lune’s Ice Lance and Earth Rising skills emerge as your trump cards in this battle. Since Eveque is weak to ice attacks, Ice Lance can be a great option against the boss. Moreover, the Earth Rising skill can cause AOE damage, serving as an effective way to eliminate the minions. Additionally, using Lune’s Immolation to apply Burn effects can also be effective, as it deals more damage to the boss throughout the battle.
- The glowing orb at the centre of Eveque’s body is its weak point. Make sure Eveque does not have a shield and focus on landing your free aim attacks on the spot to deal greater damage.
- Since the minions gain extra turns, focus on eliminating them as soon as possible.
