In this guide, we shall go over how to flee in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 so you can live to fight another day.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is just as brutal as it is beautiful – something you learn right away after landing on the Continent. Threat lurks around every corner, and you’ll constantly be engaged in battle, fighting for your own survival. The enemies are no walk in the park either, with enemies such as the Bourgeoun and Lampmaster more than capable of crushing you. When pitted against such crushingly difficult enemies, fleeing is your best bet.
Yes, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 lets you flee mid-combat. Some may take it as a stain on their pride, but living to fight another day on the Continent is something worth celebrating. It also prevents you from losing progress and being thrown back to an earlier save.
If you’re facing a powerful opponent in the game and see no chance of winning, fleeing is your best bet. If you don’t know how to, we’re here to help. In this guide, we shall go over how to flee in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

As stated earlier, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 allows you to bail on the fight mid-battle. You can flee by pressing the left stick on your controller. If on keyboard and mouse, press the ‘C’ key. This will let you escape, saving your life at the cost of no experience earned.
When exploring the continent, if you stumble across an enemy that seems too difficult, more often than not, you can walk your way around them without kicking off an encounter. This is also true for some of the levels where you often have the option to just slip past big enemies. We only recommend doing it against enemies reset by resting.
While the option to flee sounds all fine and dandy, it does not work on bosses and special encounters. You cannot flee enemies you’re supposed to fight as part of the story. In these encounters, the ‘Flee’ option is disabled entirely. You’re forced to play through the entire encounter till you kill the boss or the boss kills you. We recommend preparing yourself accordingly when you head out as part of the story.
