Like any other modern RPG, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 features a ton of cosmetic options for the playable characters. While you cannot create a custom character in the game, you can still customize your party with different outfits and, most importantly, different hairstyles.

Every party member in Expedition 33 has access to multiple hairstyles, which you can equip at any time during gameplay. Some of these hairstyles can be purchased from merchants across the Continent, whereas others need to be unlocked via side quests. One such side quest-related hairstyle is the French Bob for Maelle, which you can obtain after completing the main story quest at Monoco’s Station.

However, as is the case with most side quests in Expedition 33, understanding the requirements to obtain the new hairstyle can be a bit tricky, since the game doesn’t feature a traditional “quest log.” To help with that, here’s a comprehensive guide on the Grandis’ side quest and how to obtain the French Bob hairstyle for Maelle in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

Right after completing the main story quest at Monoco’s Station, you can set out for Old Lumiere or explore the nearby regions. Instead of going to the portal that leads to Old Lumiere, head through the exit on the other side of the Station. Exiting Monoco’s Station will lead you to a snow-covered region with two more portals. There’s a portal to a high-level area – Frozen Hearts, as well as the Carousel. Head through the Carousel portal to reach an area with a giant Carousel at its center. You will find an NPC, Grandis, standing close to the Carousel. Talking to the Grandis will reveal the option quest in the area. Essentially, the Grandis used to be the keeper of the Carousel.

The Grandis will tell the party about the children who used to go on the Carousel. Furthermore, he also fondly remembers one of the children who bore a striking resemblance to Maelle, albeit with a different hairstyle. However, the Carousel was left frozen for years, which rendered it unusable. The Grandis asks the party if they can help him get the Carousel spinning again. Once you get the Carousel spinning, talk to the Grandis to get the French Bob hairstyle for Maelle.

While it might be a bit tricky to figure out how exactly you can get the Carousel spinning, it’s actually a really simple task. You essentially need to break the ice clusters that have formed around the Carousel’s base. To do so, simply head towards one of these frozen clusters and press RB or R1. There are a total of three of these ice clusters that you need to break. Once all the ice clusters are broken, the Carousel will start spinning automatically, indicating the conclusion of the quest. After the Carousel starts spinning, talk to the Grandis, and he will gift the French Bob hairstyle to Maelle.
