Dead Rails is a popular Roblox survival adventure game. This article will rank the in-game trains from worst to best.

Dead Rails is a popular Roblox survival adventure game. Developed by RCM Games, the game was released in January 2025. In four months, it has easily become one of the most played games, with over 2.7 billion visits. The game is set in 1899 during a fictional “Zombie Plague” that has swept the American continent. Players board a train to travel 80,000 meters (80km) through a zombie-infested desert to reach a cure in Mexico.
Trains are central to the gameplay, serving as the primary vehicle and mobile base. This article will rank the trains from worst to best in Dead Rails Roblox.
Roblox Dead Rails: Trains Ranked (Worst to Best)
4. Default Train (0 Bond)

The Default Train is the starter train in the game. Like any other default item, this has very basic stats. The train doesn’t go faster than the other variants, but it is easily customizable and is easy to reinforce. As mentioned, this train doesn’t offer any additional benefits. Outlaws (common enemies) can shoot through the windows unless they are reinforced and blocked off.
While this train will do the work at the start of the game, deeper into the game (or during night cycles), this can be a death trap. Without upgrades, it can’t withstand the increasing enemy waves, and players spend most of their time fighting rather than progressing.
3. Gold Rush (250 Bonds)

The Gold Rush Train is player-customized in the game. It’s worth noting that this train doesn’t offer anything extra as compared to the default train. It is essentially the same model but with an added customization – a gold-painted exterior. The Gold Rush train is entirely cosmetic, although it might make players join your lobby.
Like the default train, it doesn’t offer the best defense. You have to reinforce it with heavy armor (metal sheets), barbed wire, and high-tier turrets (example: cannons or rapid-fire machine guns). The “Gold Rush” moniker comes from the game’s Western vibe, where players loot gold bars from banks and trade them at forts.
2. Cattle Car (225 Bonds)

The Cattle Car is next on this list. This is better than the Default Train as it includes an enclosed wooden car. This naturally has some added advantages, including protecting you from lightning strikes. Additionally, if you have chosen the Vampire Class, you would want shelter from the sunlight. The Cattle Car’s roof cabin will help you protect yourself from the sun.
This also comes with increased storage space, as players can weld items onto the walls and roof of the cabin. However, this train also has some cons – players can still shoot through the windows, and it has poor rear visibility.
1. Armored Train (275 Bonds)

The Armored Train is a heavily fortified train in the game. It is tailored for maximum defense against the zombie hordes, outlaws, vampires, werewolves, and wolves encountered during the 80,000-meter (80km) journey through a zombie-infested desert. Its heavy fortifications make it a tank-like stronghold, ideal for protecting players and loot during nighttime Runner Zombie swarms.
The Armored Train, however, has slower acceleration and deceleration speeds. It also consumes the most amount of fuel and is the most expensive train available in the game.
