Fort Constitution isn’t your average pitstop in Dead Rails. It’s a brutal warzone loaded with high-tier loot, gun-wielding zombies, and one very persistent boss named Captain Prescott. Surviving this place takes more than luck. You’ll need solid weapons, a smart plan, and the nerve to fight through waves of soldiers and cavalry that don’t know how to quit.

But if you manage to pull it off, the rewards speak for themselves. We’re talking rare guns, a powerful cannon, and enough Treasury Bonds to make the risk worthwhile.

To raid Fort Constitution in Dead Rails, you first need to know where to find it. The structure spawns randomly between the 10 to 30 km or 50 to 60 km mark, typically swapping with the Tesla Lab. Look for a wooden fortress with two towers, cannons, and multiple internal buildings. Once you’re there, don’t rush in blindly. Prep is key.

Before heading in, gather the essentials. Equip a rifle and shotgun, stock up on plenty of ammo, and carry Molotovs, Holy Water, and Crucifixes for area damage. Bandages and Snake Oil are must-haves for healing and speed. Armor helps, and bringing a horse gives you an escape option. Start the raid at 6 AM in-game time to make full use of daylight.

Once inside, the assault begins in three phases:

Phase 1: Ground Troops

Head up one of the towers immediately. Zombies can’t climb ladders, so this gives you an advantage. Use your gun to pick them off, and throw down AoE items to deal with clustered enemies. While the cannon won’t be usable yet, keep your focus on surviving the gunfire from below.

Phase 2: Hut Sweep

Once the initial wave is down, some zombies will remain stuck in buildings. Switch towers to lure them out. Use Snake Oil to move faster between spots. Repeat your earlier strategy, i.e stay elevated, use AoE, and take them out in groups.

Phase 3: Cavalry Invasion

This is the hardest part. Horse-riding zombies will rush in from outside the fort. Stay in the tower and use the cannon once it becomes active. If they’re out of range, go back to Molotovs and Crucifixes. Never get down from the tower during this phase. If it gets dark and you’re not done, consider retreating to your barricaded train cabin to avoid nighttime threats like vampires.

When all zombies are dead, locate Captain Prescott’s body. He wears a navy-blue suit, has a handlebar mustache, and wields a Cavalry sword. Nearby, you’ll find the Golden Key. Use it to unlock the Supply Depot for your final reward.

Here’s a breakdown of what each building offers inside Fort Constitution:

BuildingLoot
ArmoryBolt-Action Rifle, Mauser C96, Navy Revolver, Shotgun, Ammo
InfirmaryBandages, Healing Items
Captain’s QuartersCaptain Prescott, Golden Key
Supply Depot (requires key)6–7 Treasury Bonds, Unique Cannon

You can also expect to pick up these additional items:

  • Revolver Ammo
  • Rifle Ammo
  • Shotgun Ammo
  • Cannon Ammo

If you follow this plan, you’ll be able to clear out Fort Constitution efficiently. Get in, wipe the area, grab the loot, and make it out alive. Keep your footing, manage your resources, and don’t get greedy.
